"No Money Can Buy Loyalty” - Matheesha Pathirana Comes Up With Cryptic Post Amid Rumors Of IPL Trade

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana shared a cryptic story amid the rumors related to him being approached by some other franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. The event will take on 19th December in Dubai. 

All the franchises ahead of the auction have revealed their list of released and retained players. Exciting young player Matheesha Pathirana has also been retained by his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The trade window is still open and players can still change teams. 

With the trade window still open, there were rumors recently that suggested that Matheesha Pathirana was approached by some other franchise to play for them. However, the pacer reportedly declined that offer. He now has reacted strongly to it. The pacer posted a cryptic story, stating: “No money can buy loyalty”

Matheesha Pathirana was one of the key architects behind Chennai Super Kings winning their 5th title in the IPL. He played a crucial role with the ball and chipped in with wickets at crucial junctures. He was MS Dhoni’s go-to man and he didn’t disappoint. 

Matheesha Pathirana picked 19 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 8.00. With him getting retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2024, ‘Baby Malinga’ is expected to play a huge role for his team in the next edition of the league. He has been exceptional in the league during the death overs. 

IPL opportunities have helped him mature his game – Sri Lanka’s assistant coach Naveed Nawaz On Matheesha Pathirana 

Sri Lanka’s assistant coach for the 2023 World Cup, Naveed Nawaz recently praised Matheesha Pathirana for his heroics at a young age. He admitted that playing in the IPL helped him mature his game and he would’ve learned a lot playing under MS Dhoni. He had said: 

“IPL opportunities have helped him mature his game. At 18-19, he got to play under a captain like MS Dhoni. I am sure that Matheesha would have learnt a lot from him about handling pressure, and being in the centre during big CSK games. It is a good experience.” 

Matheesha Pathirana would be hoping to replicate his performances from last year’s IPL in the upcoming edition as well. With time, he is likely to become even more threatening.
