Australia star all-rounder Cameron Green has clarified the confusion regarding his listing as a batter for the IPL 2026 mini-auction, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Green stated that he will contribute with both bat and ball in the upcoming season, adding that it was a mistake by his manager.

The 26-year-old skipped the last IPL season while recovering from back surgery. He returned to competitive cricket as a batter in June. Medical clearance later allowed him to resume bowling in international cricket. He has been contributing to both disciplines for Australia during the ongoing Ashes series.

My Manager Accidentally Selected the Wrong Box - Cameron Green Issues Clarification

"I'll be good to bowl," Green said prior to Australia's training session in Adelaide on December 14 morning. "I don't know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn't mean to say 'batter'. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it's all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end."

It’s a Bit of a Lottery Where You Might Go - Cameron Green

Cameron Green has registered for the auction at the top base price of Rs 2 crore. He is likely to trigger interest from multiple franchises right from the start. Green said that he plans to follow the proceedings with his teammates, calling the auction an unpredictable but enjoyable experience.

"I'm sure I will be [watching], with a few other guys. They're always good fun to watch. It's a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it's always been fun to watch," the all-rounder said.

Cameron Green’s Rising Value Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

Cameron Green has already shown his talent in the IPL. He made his IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2023, scoring over 450 runs, including a century, and taking a few wickets. He moved to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) the next year and added useful runs and wickets again.

Green is one of the most talked-about players for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Many teams are expected to bid for him, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) look like the favourites because they have the biggest purse after releasing Andre Russell.

The all-rounder cannot earn more than Rs 18 crore. A new rule says that any amount above Rs 18 crore will not go to the player but will be kept by the BCCI for player welfare and development.
