Babar Azam has yet again failed to deliver with the bat, leaving his Pakistan cricket team and fans disappointed with his poor form, as the hosts have a horrific start to their two-match Test series against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, August 21.

After being asked to bat first by the Bangladesh cricket team, Pakistan’s decision to prepare a flat green track badly backfired, as they lost three key wickets for just 16 runs in Rawalpindi.

Babar Azam falls for a duck as Bangladesh dominates in Rawalpindi Test

Hasan Mahmud removed the Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique for just two runs before Shoriful Islam turned out to be a nightmare for the current and former captain in the first Test against Rawalpindi.

After removing Pakistan captain Shan Masood for just six runs, Shoriful Islam struck again to send Babar Azam back for a duck. Babar attempted to hit a short ball down the leg side but only managed to edge it. Litton Das pulled off a brilliant one-handed diving catch down the leg side to dismiss Azam in Rawalpindi.

The umpire's finger went up right away, and Babar had no choice but to walk off for 0 off 2 balls to put the Pakistan team in danger in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Following Babar’s yet another flop show, fans came down hard on the former Test captain on social media.

Here’s how fans reacted to Babar’s duck in Rawalpindi Test:

Shan Masood loses his wicket in controversial fashion

Before Babar shock, Islam dismissed Masood in a controversial fashion. Masood looks visibly frustrated with the decision, but he had no choice but to leave the field, and later the review turned out in Bangladesh's favor, and they caught the big fish.

The delivery was short of a length and came back in from outside off, and Masood attempted to defend, but UltraEdge detected a spike as the ball passed close to the bat. Although the spike appeared a frame after the ball had passed the bat, the third umpire decided to rule it as a caught-behind. Islam, who was confident of the edge, convinced his captain to go for the review.

Despite Masood's doubts and the fact that the ball's impact for LBW was outside off, the decision didn’t change, leaving Masood to walk off with frustration. At the moment, Pakistani opener Saim Ayub is batting at 32, and the number five batter Saud Shakeel is batting at 14 in Rawalpindi. Pakistan's score reads 57/3 after 16 overs in the second session.

This game will be challenging: Masood on Rawalpindi Test

Earlier, Masood had said at the toss: “The pitch has a lot of grass so yeah it will be quite challenging. It has rained as well, but if we bat well, towards the end of the game with the cracks, it will be tough to bat. Test cricket is about picking 20 wickets and when we went to Australia that was one of our targets, our bowlers did well there and it's about continuing that momentum with 7 of 9 Tests at home and we would like to do that.

We have been very clear, we have communicated with players, it removes the uncertainty a bit. It's a proud moment, privilege and nothing is guaranteed in sport and it's an exciting opportunity to push for a place in the WTC final.”
