Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav did not shy away from giving Shivam Dube his much-deserved praise after the player's handy contributions to India's consecutive World Cup triumphs.

Suryakumar Yadav-led India went on to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 after having won it for the second time in 2024, which broke their decade-long drought in ICC tournaments. Having won back-to-back World Cups in two successive years, many Indian players have been part of the squad on both occasions and have played a very crucial role in these victories.

One of those players is captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was India's best batter on show in the 2024 World Cup. He then took over as the skipper after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement. Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel remained, among other notable names.

Suryakumar Yadav on Shivam Dube’s underrated World Cup final contribution

After India had won the World Cup back in 2024, the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Virat Kohli all got their due credit for having played one role or the other in India's win.

The bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh also got their deserved praise, but except for one player who has been the most underrated yet one of the most useful cricketers in the Men in Blue setup.

Shivam Dube, the batting all-rounder for India, had scored several crucial runs in that World Cup, including a vital 15-ball 27 that helped India rush to a significant total. His role was similar in 2026 as well, and he made an impact in whichever role he was asked to.

"No one will remember but he scored 27 off 15 balls in the 2024 World Cup final - the important contribution. After that, Gauti bhai & Ajit bhai told me this player needs to be tested in different positions and got ready so if you watch, he has batted everywhere from four to seven," said Suryakumar Yadav, as quoted by Indian Express.

"His role was simple - if he bats, he creates impact & if he bowls, he covers a few overs. He was another underrated player in this tournament," Suryakumar Yadav added.

Axar Patel - The silent Jack of all trades for India

On the other hand, another all-rounder in the Indian team who has truly been the Jack of all trades for India in the World Cup, Axar Patel, has also been an underrated player in the Men in Blue camp.

Though Patel did not contribute significantly with the bat this time around, he has done all he could with the ball and on the field. Against England in the semi-finals, it was Axar Patel's heroics that helped India win the title match. The catch of Harry Brook turned the tide towards India early in the innings.

Axar also picked 11 wickets in just 7 appearances in the 2026 T20 World Cup , making him India's third-highest wicket-getter and at a better economy than Varun Chakravarthy. Also, he took up the ball and provided crucial breakthroughs when it mattered the most for India.

Shivam Dube will be crucial for CSK in IPL 2026

The all-rounder from India will next be seen playing a vital role for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He is a middle-order batter who is often promoted for his big-hitting ability by the CSK management and is known to take down the spinners during the middle overs.

With the confidence boost after winning consecutive World Cups and the batting form that Dube showed in this edition of the cup, emerging as India's fourth-highest run-getter can also earn him the role of a finisher, which CSK have been hunting for for a long time.

Batting alongside Dewald Brevis in the middle order, Dube can be crucial for CSK to demolish the opposition bowling attack in between the 10-20 overs of the game. His occasional medium pace might also be used at times.
