Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has made bold predictions when asked about the Orange Cap and Purple Cap winners for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. Interestingly, Jaffer didn't name Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, who are prime contenders for this award.

Instead, Wasim Jaffer picked two youngsters in the form of Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep Singh. The former India batter feels that Sudharsan can emerge as the highest run-scorer of the season while the left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh could emerge as the top wicket-taker

Sai Sudharsan will be playing for Gujarat Titans while Arshdeep Singh will be seen playing for Punjab Kings. Both of them are likely to feature in the Playing XI of their respective teams given they are fit.

Contenders for Orange Cap and Purple Cap

Apart from these players, the focus will be on a no. of players who can light up the tournament. Virat Kohli emerged as the highest run-getter last season and will be a top contender this year as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who finished second last season, will be a big contender, given his ability to score runs consistently.

Rajasthan Royals' Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag will also be among the contenders. Parag was in scinitllating form with the bat last year and finished as the third-highest run-getter last year.

Meanwhile, Harshal Patel was the highest wicket-taker last season and could be in the wicket-taking columns this year as well. He will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad this year. Legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is the top wicket-taker in IPL history, can also emerge to be the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 prices for Sai Sudharsan, Arshdeep Singh

Sai Sudharsan was retained by Gujarat Titans for INR 8.50 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The young left-hander had a stint at the top of the order with his captain Shubman Gill but with Jos Buttler in the GT squad now, he is likely to go back to his No. 3 spot.

Sudharsan underwent surgery for a hernia later last year and has played just a solitary game since his return. On the other hand, Arshdeep was in India's Champions Trophy-winning squad recently but did not get a game.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh wasn't retained by Punjab Kings but was signed by the franchise for INR 18 crore in the auction through Right to Match (RTM). Arshdeep has emerged to be one of India's top T20 players over the last few years and will be key for the Kings this season.
