The year 2023 has come to an end but saw a lot of cricket action throughout the year. Asia Cup 2023, ICC World Test Championship Final, and Asia Cup 2023 were some exciting multi-nation campaigns that took place this year.

Many players also grabbed the limelight in international cricket with their magnificent performances. Australia was quite a successful team in 2023. They won the ICC WTC title by defeating India in the final. They later crushed India to win ODI World Cup too.

He slammed a 163-run knock in WTC final and a 137-run knock in World Cup final. His knock turned the match in Australia’s favour on both occasions.

Moreover, the left-handed batsman also gave a wonderful show in all three formats in 2023. He averaged 41.77 in 12 Tests, 51.81 in 13 ODIs, 34+ across 6 T20Is. Overall, he held a batting average of 43+ across all three formats and shattered 3 tons and 9 fifties in 2023.

He also slammed 1 ton and 1 fifty. With a batting average of 51+ in 24 ODIs and 39+ in 8 T20Is, Markram also delivered a superb show in limited-overs format. Notably, due to his outstanding performances in ODIs and T20Is, the management promoted him as the new skipper in both formats.

For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell was a stupendous batter in 2023. He mustered 469 runs in 13 Tests innings averaging 42+. The right-handed batsman also scored 1 ton and 4 fifties. In ODIs, he piled up 1204 runs in 26 matches averaging 52+.

The middle-order batsman stormed 5 centuries and 3 fifties too. In the shortest format, Mitchell scored 2 fifties across 18 games at a strike rate of 122+. He also played a key role in ODI World Cup and helped the team reach the semi-final. Mitchell was a consistent batter for New Zealand in all three formats and he too deserves to win the Cricketer of the Year award.

2. Mitchell Marsh (Australia)

Mitchell Marsh was a stunning all-rounder in 2023 in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. The Australian player mustered 540 runs and got 4 wickets in 5 Tests, averaging 67.50 with the bat. In 20 ODIs, he piled up 858 runs with 2 centuries and also grabbed 2 wickets. He averaged 47+ in the 50-over format.

In the shortest format, he played just 3 T20Is. However, Marsh executed a stellar performance by smacking 186 runs including 2 half-centuries. He slammed unbeaten half-centuries in both matches. Marsh was a consistent batter in all three formats for Australia in 2023.

If we talk about India, Shubman Gill was the player who grabbed a lot of limelight in 2023. The right-handed batsman cemented his place as an opener for India. He was outstanding in ODIs, smacking 1584 runs in 29 matches with 5 tons and 9 fifties. Gill also ended as the leading run-getter in ODIs this year.

The 24-year-old played 13 T20I matches this year, hitting 312 runs. Notably, Gill slammed a double ton in ODIs and a century in T20Is- a rare record held by only a limited number of batsmen in international cricket. In Tests, Shubman Gill played 6 matches averaging 28+. He slammed 1 ton.
