India National Cricket Team are mulling over the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the third Test against the Australia National Cricket Team. The pacer seems to be not 100% fit and this no doubt will be a massive blow for the Rohit Sharma-led side going into the match.
The third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is all set to take place at the Brisbane in Gabba and the match will be played from Saturday (14th December). India National Cricket Team have begun their preparations for the same even though they are yet to reach Brisbane.
India are sweating hard in nets in Adelaide ahead of the Brisbane Test
India are sweating hard in nets in Adelaide as they went through the intense training session. However, Bumrah wasn't part of the session and it was cited that the fast bowler didn't take part in the practice session due to the workload management.
Bumrah came under scanner after he was down during the first innings of the Adelaide Test. The fast bowler looked in discomfort as he was attended by physios as well and it was suspected that the pacer had a slight niggle as he continued bowling after that.
In the second innings, Bumrah bowled one over but didn't look comfortable as he was down with the speed. He was taken off the attack immediately after that as Nitish Kumar Reddy replaced him, with the team defending just 19 runs in the second Test.
There’s got to be some serious doubts - Damien Fleming on Jasprit Bumrah missing practice session
Former Australian cricketer Damien Fleming, speaking on SEN Radio, feared "serious doubts," over Jasprit Bumrah. He said that Mohammed Siraj might have missed the session due to workload, but he was not happy with Bumrah bowling one over. He explained:
“There’s got to be some serious doubts. Siraj might be workload-related, but I’m bemused. Bumrah bowled that over. They could have hidden this. They showed their hand."
There’s no way that’s cramp, he was very ginger after the break in the first innings - Damien Fleming on Jasprit Bumrah
Damien Fleming also added that it wasn't the cramp that Jasprit Bumrah had in Adelaide. He also lashed out at Rohit Sharma for giving the fast bowler that one over in the second innings. He elaborated:
“There’s no way that’s cramp. He was very ginger after the break in the first innings. He bowled again, not quite as slow second innings. I don’t even know why he bowled that over [in the second innings]. That actually gave some secrets away to everyone.”
Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He has picked 12 wickets in the two games that he has bowled. Bumrah will be extremely crucial for his team going into the series as team management would be hoping that he regains his full fitness ahead of the Brisbane Test.
