Not Ajinkya Rahane! These 3 players could power KKR to IPL 2026 glory

Kolkata Knight Riders are set to kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29. The three-time champions will then return home to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 2, followed by games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
With only the first phase of the schedule announced, KKR will aim to build early momentum. The franchise endured a disappointing IPL 2025 season, finishing eighth with just five wins.
Under Ajinkya Rahane, KKR will look to bounce back in the upcoming season. While Rahane’s leadership will be key, their title hopes will depend heavily on a few proven match-winners stepping up consistently.
3 Players Could Power Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) To IPL 2026 Glory
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh has established himself as one of the most reliable finishers in the IPL. Over the last few seasons, he has delivered multiple match-winning performances under pressure, including his famous five sixes in the last over against Yash Dayal in 2023.
In IPL 2025, Rinku scored 206 runs at an average of 29.43 and a strike rate of 153.73. He has the ability to accelerate in the death overs and handle high-pressure situations, which makes him a vital cog in KKR’s batting lineup.
Overall, the left-handed batter has scored 1,099 runs in 59 matches at an average of 30.53 and a strike rate of 145.18, including four half-centuries, with a best score of an unbeaten 67. If KKR are to close out games successfully, Rinku’s role will be crucial once again.
Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine remains the team’s biggest X-factor heading into IPL 2026. The veteran all-rounder has been a match-winner for the franchise for over a decade, contributing with both bat and ball.
With the ball, Narine has picked up more than 190 IPL wickets at an average of 25.64 and an economy rate of under 7, making him one of the most economical bowlers in the league’s history. His ability to break partnerships and control the middle overs will be key to the success this season.
With the bat, his aggressive approach at the top has often provided KKR with explosive starts. During IPL 2024, the left-handed batter scored 488 runs in 15 matches at an average of 34.86 and a strike rate of 180.74, including three half-centuries and one century. However, he failed to replicate that success in 2025.
Cameron Green
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green adds much-needed balance to the KKR squad. Known for his ability to contribute in all departments, Green can play multiple roles depending on the situation.
In previous IPL seasons, Green has scored over 700 runs in 29 matches at a strike rate above 150, while also chipping in with crucial wickets. His height and bounce make him a difficult bowler to face, especially on lively surfaces. If Green finds consistency, he could be the crucial player for the side.
Players like Varun Chakaravarthy can provide strength in the bowling department, while explosive options like Rovman Powell add firepower to the batting lineup.
With key players like Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, and Cameron Green expected to play central roles, KKR have the potential to bounce back. If their core delivers consistently, the Knight Riders could once again emerge as serious contenders for the IPL 2026 title.
