CSK have eagerly remained in the quest for a wicket-keeper batsman but have met dead ends every time they tried to land a deal. The likes of Sanju Samson might be on their books, but what they would love to have is a wicket-keeper batter with a long range of hitting boundaries coming down the order.

The Chennai Super Kings are seemingly rebuilding their squad and are looking for some new players in the squad. Though nothing has been confirmed on the players who are likely to be released, it seems that they might part ways with Devon Conway, alongside a few more overseas players from their camp.

CSK lacked some batting prowess, especially towards the back end of matches when the team needed crunch finishes, which used to be MS Dhoni's job for them over all these years. The veteran is 44 years old, and CSK has yet to find a replacement in the role.

CSK looking for a prominent Wicket-keeper batter

The Chennai Super Kings have been attempting to have a well-known Indian wicket-keeping face in the team and have dwelt on options like Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, and now Ishan Kishan. The Rahul deal looks absolutely like a no-brainer, while Samson would be tough to fit in the CSK batting order; hence, the only likely option seems to be Ishan Kishan.

There is no doubt that Kishan is a very promising batter in the top order as well as the middle order and can be the solution to CSK's first-down woes. He is also likely to be released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, but CSK going for him has not been official.

MS Dhoni will not part ways with the Chennai Super Kings team for the upcoming season of the IPL as well. The veteran will be 45 years old next year and is not far from being the oldest hat in the history of the IPL.

Dewald Brevis sidelined; Indian batter to play finishing role for CSK

Dewald Brevis, the former Mumbai Indians campaigner, was included in the CSK side midway through the last edition, and he seemed to have enjoyed his outings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dewald Brevis single-handedly held command of CSK's lower-order batting.

Dewald Brevis scored 200+ runs with a pack of half-centuries and a strike rate of nearly 180. However, CSK will have to explore options to back Dewald Brevis lower down the order. They have hence picked Urvil Patel as one of those players.

Rohit Juglan reported that Urvil Patel, who is a quality player at the top of the order, is known for his long levers and might be transformed into a finisher. He has often been spotted alongside MS Dhoni in the CSK camp several times during the previous season.

CSK is building a strong core of young players

The Chennai Super Kings have already started to build a strong core comprising young cricketers for the future. They now have Rachin Ravindra, 17-year-old star Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, Dewald Brevis, and Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad among the youngsters in the side.

They have been reported to be in talks with rising talents Sonu Yadav and Mohamed Ali, both Indian domestic cricketers. Sonu Yadav is a young off-spinner who can also bat down the order and can be a long-term prospect for CSK. He was part of RCB in the last season.
