Abhishek Sharma revealed how everything fell perfectly into place for him during the 27th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, April 12.
The left-handed batter played a dreamy knock of 141 runs off 55 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Punjab Kings by eight wickets in the IPL 2025 clash on Saturday.

However, all this was possible only because of Shubman Gill's bat. The 24-year-old SRH opener revealed that he played with a special bat — the same one he borrowed from his close friend and Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill in their last match against GT earlier this month.
Abhishek thanked Gill for lending him the bat once again, calling it a lucky charm. The SRH opener also revealed he knew that he would deliver something big for the Orange Army, and what followed was nothing short of a dream performance against the PBKS.
It was my lucky day for me: Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma said in a video posted on IPL’s official social media handle, “I had so much fun today that I can't tell you. I forgot to mention one more thing. Our last match was again with GT. And everyone knows whose bat I took again. Thanks to Shubman Gill, who gave me the bat. And obviously, I was feeling like this. And today I had written especially that I want to do something special for the Orange Army. And I think it was my lucky day as well.”
Meanwhile, Abhishek opened up about a heartwarming moment featuring his father during the SRH versus PBKS clash in the ongoing IPL 2025. He shared how his father, who is his first cricket coach, has always been deeply involved in his game since childhood.
The left-handed batter has further revealed that his father was closely following every shot against the PBKS, and he was telling him that he was playing loose or risky shots from the stands, so that was a really memorable experience for him.

The young batter said that having both his parents at the stadium made it even more special. He said that his family was very happy with his performance. The 24-year-old star further mentioned, “It was very special. My father used to come to the matches before the age of 14. If you have zoomed in on my father, he used to pay attention to every ball.
Because he used to sit in front of the screen since I was a kid. And this time as well, he was paying attention to every shot. He was telling me when I was hitting rash shots in the middle. If you have zoomed in, then only you will get to know. But obviously, very special. Because he is my first coach. And when Mom and Dad come to watch me, it's a special moment.”
In the end, the SRH opener admitted that there is always room for improvement and will do what he can in his game. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next game against the Mumbai Indians on April 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the ongoing IPL 2025.
