Not Rohit Sharma Or Virat Kohli, Shoaib Malik Picks This Indian Batter As The Best In The World

Former Pakistan players Shoaib Malik and Wasim Akram heaped praises on KL Rahul after his stunning century against the Netherlands on Sunday, November 12. While Shoaib Malik called KL Rahul the best no.5 batter in world cricket, Wasim Akram called him a proper technical batter.

KL Rahul slammed the fastest century by an Indian player in World Cups during the IND vs NED clash. The right-handed batter shattered an unbeaten 102 runs off 64 balls after reaching his ton in just 62 deliveries. Storming 11 fours and 4 sixes during his knock, the wicketkeeper-batter held a strike rate of 159+.

KL Rahul Is Best No.5 Batter In World Cricket: Shoaib Malik

While discussing the IND vs NED match on A Sports, former Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik and pacer Wasim Akram lauded KL Rahul for his outstanding batting show against the Netherlands. Shoaib Malik said that Rahul is the best no.5 batter in world cricket who can bat in any situation.

“The best at No 5 in the world cricket. Klassen (Heinrich) needs a base to get going. But if you compare, India have got the best batter at 5, who can play in any sort of situation. This is why KL bats at 5. If India will lose two or three wickets early, he is someone, who can play according to the situation”, Shoaib Malik said.

“He can finish the match, can improvise, can play with a good strike rate, and we have seen it today. He is good against spinners as well as the Pacers. He picks the gaps and plays the field. Against Australia, we have seen, he was the one who finished the match,” Malik further added.

KL Rahul Is The Perfect Technical Batter: Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram said that Rahul is a perfect technical batter. He also added that bowlers have a chance against Glenn Maxwell but not Rahul.

“Against Maxwell, as a bowler, you know that you will get a chance but with Rahul, it is not the case. He is a proper technical batter. He has opened in the Test cricket, ODIs, and T20Is. Now he has been given a different role and he is excelling in it,” Wasim Akram said.

Meanwhile, India crushed the Netherlands by 160 runs in their last league-stage match. Posting a mammoth 410-4 with centuries by Shreyas Iyer and Rahul, the men-in-blue bundled out the Netherlands for 250. Shreyas Iyer won the player of the match award for his 128 runs in the match.
