The Kolkata Knight Riders would have anyway had to pick one of the two New Zealand cricketers for their playing XI. Tim Seifert, the wicket-keeper batter, might not be considered, as Angkrish Raghuvanshi could be used as the gloveman to balance their XI.

The Kolkata Knight Riders revamped their squad under the leadership of their new skipper, Ajinkya Rahane. The Knight Riders have revamped their squad with new overseas cricketers like Finn Allen and Tim Seifert.

The likes of Rachin Ravindra, Rovman Powell, and Matheesha Pathirana were picked as the new overseas players in the squad. They also invested a large amount of money in Cameron Green, the Australian all-rounder, whom they considered a top-order specialist.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi to be picked over Tim Seifert by KKR

Tim Seifert was picked alongside Finn Allen for their base prices ahead of the IPL 2026 season in the mini-auction. Seifert was the second-highest run-getter in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, while Allen was his stunning mate who had also piled up several runs.

KKR would have to pick one of the two stars for their team, as they could not start with both of them in the XI. Cameron Green and Sunil Narine would be the two other overseas players who are confirmed for a spot in the XI.

KKR are most likely to go with Finn Allen, since the batter is a very destructive option at the top and has immense experience playing in franchise leagues around the globe. As per the latest reports from Aajkal, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the 21-year-old Mumbai cricketer, has been cited as the wicketkeeper for the KKR side.

Will KKR use Tejasvi Dahiya as their wicketkeeper in 2026?

While Kolkata Knight Riders might not be willing to use Tim Seifert as the wicket-keeper in the side, they have invested a lump sum amount of money in Delhi-based wicket-keeper Tejasvi Dahiya.

Tejasvi Dahiya, the young cricketer from Delhi, has been spotted amassing several runs in the domestic tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2024 and 2025. The batter is known as a very explosive cricketer down the order.

He will be important alongside Rinku Singh in the KKR batting order. Tim Seifert, however, could be placed in the KKR playing XI alongside Finn Allen. Under such circumstances, Seifert could be slotted in at no. 3, but Cameron Green would lose his spot in the top order.

Will Rovman Powell be picked to strengthen the KKR lower order?

Kolkata Knight Riders will not have Andre Russell for the first time this season after almost a decade; the Caribbean superstar parted ways with his former franchise. He announced his retirement from the IPL and will be available as a power instructor in the camp.

Cameron Green is never a like-for-like replacement for Dre Russ's supreme finishing skills down the order; hence, KKR would have to make way for the West Indian batter Rovman Powell, who has the calibre to finish the innings strongly for the team.

Powell's presence in the KKR lineup would mean no overseas spot would be left vacant to fit in Matheesha Pathirana, the Lankan pacer, when he returns to the IPL after a NOC from the SLC.
