Not Virat Kohli: Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head wish this India star was Australian

Australian cricketers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head hailed Rishabh Pant for his brilliance ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. While Head claimed that Pant is the most Australian kind of batter in the Indian line-up, Marsh wished he had Pant in his team.

Pant has been in fine form recently and announced his Test return with a bang. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed a hundred in only his first Test match since his life-threatening accident in December 2022.

While he had already made his return in the T20I and the ODI formats, his Test return was something everyone was waiting for. Test cricket has arguably been Pant's favorite format of his career so far and his records in the format are exceptional.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head Rishabh Pant's brilliance

During a chat on Star Sports, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh were asked about the player who is the most Australian. Head responded back by saying Rishabh Pant's name and lauded the youngster for his aggressive approach.

"The Indian cricketer I believe is the most Australian would be Rishabh Pant. I think the way he goes about his aggressive nature, the way he goes about his work, he would be very enjoyable to play with," Head said.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh also praised Pant and wished that he was Australian. Marsh added that Pant is a highly competitive cricketer who is always smiling and keeps the opposition on the back foot.

"He (Rishabh Pant) is a ripping bloke. I wish he was Australian. He has obviously been through a lot last few years. (It's a) hell of a comeback, a bit of positive guy, he is still very young. He is highly competitive for someone who I guess has a persona of being relaxed and always laughing and smiling. He has got that big smile," Marsh said.

Mitchell Marsh has also shared the dressing room with Rishabh Pant as they played for the same IPL team Delhi Capitals. In the IPL, Marsh played under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant.

Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh are also aggressive

While Pant loves playing an aggressive brand of cricket, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh do the same job for Australia. Both of them are highly aggressive cricketers and love to take the fight to the opposition.

Head and Marsh love scoring aggressively and will be key in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series. Batting at No. 5 and 6 respectively, they provide the Australian batting order the X-factor that they were looking for.

The Border-Gavaskar series 2024-25 will be played later this year. The five-match Test series between Australia and India will begin on October 7 in Perth. It will be a grueling battle between the two best Test teams currently.
