Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel named MS Dhoni as the Desi Mamba of Cricket in a recent podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia.
Dhruv Jurel is a big fan of Kobe Bryant and his Mamba mentality. Whenever Jurel feels low, he tunes into Kobe’s podcast and focuses on his words to draw inspiration from him.
Mamba mentality comes from a famous basketballer, Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant’s work ethic and trust in hard work have been named the Mamba mentality.
MS Dhoni is the Desi Mamba of Cricket
In a recent podcast, Jurel was asked about who the Desi Mamba of Cricket is, and he replied with MS Dhoni’s name. Jurel also gave the reason why Dhoni is the Desi Mamba of cricket.
“Mere ko lagta hai mahi bhai, to be honest, vo uss position pe batting karte the, jispe mai karta hoon. Kyuki apako pta nahi h app ja rhe ho 3-4 over bache h, you can’t take time jate hi marna h, strike-rate acha rakhna hai, team ko jrrurat hai, usne kiya h, bar bar kia h, that’s why he is great,” Jurel said in Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast.
Jurel praised Dhoni for his achievements and said that if he achieves the 1% success of what Dhoni did, then he will be grateful for his cricketing career.
“Unhone itna acheive kiya hai agar mai unka 1% bhi achieve krunga toh bhot grateful rahunga,” Jurel added.

Dhruv Jurel’s IPL 2025 performance
Jurel was retained by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping price of INR 14 crore before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Jurel scored 333 runs at an average of 37 in the 14 matches.
Jurel scored decent runs this season because he mostly came in the death overs of the match. But Rajasthan lost five matches by the barest margin in the ongoing season.
Jurel was in the crease multiple times and failed to chase 9 runs in the last over twice in the season. Jurel’s runs came mostly in the losing cause for his team.
Rajasthan finished this season in ninth place and lost five matches by the barest of margins.
Dhruv Jurel in the India Test squad
Dhruv Jurel has set up his name in the Indian Test team as the back-up wicket-keeper. He is also picked up in both India A and the India squad for the England tour.
Jurel represented India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, and now he will be eyeing to become India's first-choice wicket-keeper in the Test squad.
