Today the wicket was different and all credit goes to the bowlers - Rajat Patidar

Being invited to bat first in the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a great score of 205/5 on the board with Virat Kohli (70) and Devdutt Padikkal (50) being the top two performers.

Defending the total, Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers were kept under pressure, but they managed to stop the Rajasthan Royals to 194/9 to clinch the win. Josh Hazlewood emerged as a top performer in the innings with 4 wickets under his belt.

Speaking after the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar gave all the credit to the bowlers for the first victory of the team at home. Rajat Patidar said:

"That was a much-needed win. Today, the wicket was different, and all credit goes to the bowlers after the 10th over. The way they showed courage was tremendous."

I always back my instincts first but we have a team of great leaders - Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar also credited the Rajasthan Royals for showcasing batting brilliance initially in the innings. He stated:

"Initially they batted beautifully, credit goes to them as well. We were searching for wickets, when you get wickets only you can stop runs.

Rajat Patidar, in the end, said that he always backs his instincts as the captain, but admitted that he receives support from other players on the team. He stated:

"I always back my instincts first but we have a team of great leaders and their inputs helps a lot. (if they have cracked the code finally to win at the MCS?) Yes (smiles)."

How did RCB perform in the previous IPL match against RR?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bagged a dominant nine-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 13 in Jaipur. A clinical performance led by Phil Salt and Virat Kohli ensured RCB chased down 174 with 15 balls to spare.

Opting to bowl first in the match, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru restricted the Rajasthan Royals to 173/4 in their 20 overs, which looked like a below-par score on the surface.

Krunal Pandya’s four-over spell for just 29 runs and one wicket was key in the middle overs; Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal picked up crucial wickets for Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag, respectively, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Hetmyer at the death to set the tone for the win.

Chasing the target, Phil Salt came out all guns blazing, taking on Jofra Archer. His attacking mindset from the first ball worked very well as he smashed 65 off just 33 balls, including five fours and six sixes.

Salt got out going for another big shot in the 9th over, but not before adding a 92-run stand with Kohli, which all but sealed a victory for RCB.

Kohli also played a really good knock and slammed an unbeaten 62 off 45, which was his 100th half-century in T20s. Devdutt Padikkal supported him with 40* runs off 28, and the match was finished in 17.3 overs.
