NZ vs AFG: Watch - Azmatullah Omarzai Sends Rachin Ravindra's Middle-Stump For A Ride

Rachin Ravindra???s scratchy stay on the crease came to an end with a snorter by Azmatullah Omarzai during the 16th match of the ICC World Cup 2023. New Zealand and Afghanistan are up against each other at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where the Black Caps have been asked to bat first.

New Zealand lost in Devon Conway (20) early and after that, Rachin Ravindra and Will Young took the onus to themselves. They batted well with the latter being the aggressor and put the Afghanistan team under tremendous pressure in what has been a good pitch to bat on.

Rachin Ravindra didn???t look at his fluent best but he managed to score runs and keep his side in the game. His stay at the crease was cut short by Azmatullah Omarzai, who bowled a staggering delivery to send the batter packing in Chennai.

Azmatullah Omarzai bowled a length delivery to which Rachin Ravindra tried to play it across the line. The ball nipped in a bit and sent the middle stump for a ride. The pacer was pumped up after taking the wicket. Here???s the video:

Rachin Ravindra took time to settle in. After a slow start, he was trying to get going slowly but perished. The all-rounder managed 32 runs off 41 balls. He also smashed two boundaries and one six in his innings.

Azmatullah Omarzai didn???t stop there as in the same over he struck again and removed Will Young. The pacer bowled length delivery that was angling in. The batter tried to play the drive and got an edge. The ball flew low to the left of the keeper who took a magnificent catch.

Will Young scored 54 runs and gave his team a solid start. After his wicket, Rashid Khan struck and removed Daryl Mitchell as well. Afghanistan after being under pressure came back strongly and reduced New Zealand to 110/4. They would now be hoping to keep the pressure on and take some more wickets. The pitch has turn in it and Afghanistan spinners have utilised the conditions well.
