The 33-year-old Pakistan National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman Fakhar Zaman played an absolutely stupendous knock in the World Cup clash against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

The 35th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is seeing the clash between the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team and Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday, November 4.

Batting first in the match, the Black Caps posted a gigantic total of 401/6 on the board, riding on the century from Rachin Ravindra and 95 from captain Kane Williamson.

Chasing the target, Pakistan were off to an awful start as they lost the wicket of the in-form opener Abdullah Shafique in the second over itself. One more wicket would have pushed Pakistan out of the game, but the duo of Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam made sure that didn’t happen.

After being dropped from the playing XI after Pakistan’s first match of the World Cup, Fakhar Zaman made a roaring comeback and showcased a batting masterclass in the 31st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh and smashed 81 runs off 74 balls, with 3 fours and 7 sixes against to win the Player of the Match award.

He continued his red-hot form and showcased his class once again in the match against New Zealand. Fakhar Zaman played his natural attack brand of cricket and smashed the bowlers all over the park.

He didn’t let the New Zealand bowlers settle and completed his ton off 63 balls to become the fastest-ever Pakistan batsman to a century in the history of the ODI World Cup. He was batting at 106 off 69 balls, with 7 fours and 9 sixes, when the rain interrupted the play.

With his century, Fakhar Zaman broke several records as he now holds the record for most sixes for Pakistan in a World Cup innings with 9 sixes under his belt against the Black Caps. He is also the batter with the most sixes for Pakistan in a World Cup edition.

The opening batsman joined Virat Kohli and David Warner in the elite list to become the batter with the most consecutive 100s against an opposition in ODIs as this was his 4th consecutive ton against New Zealand.
