Former India batter Suresh Raina has picked a New Zealand star as the player from the ongoing ICC Men???s Cricket World Cup 2o23 who he thinks is similar to him.
The former cricketer was a member of the Indian team that won the ICC World Cup in 2011 at home under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. He was a reliable middle-order bowler, a handy part-time spinner and one of the best fielders of his generation. In the 2011 World Cup, he played a couple of crucial knocks against Australia and Pakistan in the quarterfinal and the semifinal respectively.
And the player who he thinks is similar to him is New Zealand allrounder Glenn Phillips who has impressed one and all with his performances in the ongoing World Cup. He has impressed with both bat and ball in the competition so far and is one of the best fielders in the world.
Suresh Raina impressed by Glenn Phillips:
Glenn Phillips has scored over 100 runs in addition to picking up 6 wickets in the ongoing World Cup so far. In his last outing, he picked up 3 wickets against Australia to help his side pull things back after the five-time world champions made a stunning start with the bat.
???I would say Glenn Phillips. He???s a gun fielder. He is bowling really well. He bats anywhere for his team. And the best thing about him is he???s bowling very good against lefty [left-handed batters]. I used to bowl against lefty. I also took couple of wickets,??? Suresh Raina said.

Talking about New Zealand???s campaign in the ongoing World Cup, they are well placed to make it to the semifinals although they need to get back to winning ways soon. The Black Caps began their campaign with four wins in a row before losing against India and Australia. Two more wins in the remaining three games will secure their passage to the semifinals.
Even one win can secure their semifinals spot but they will have to depend on other results as well in that scenario.
