'Overhyped Abhishek Sharma needs belt treatment from Yuvraj Singh': Youngster slammed after failing in Bangladesh T20Is

For the third game in a row in the ongoing T20I series between India and Bangladesh, Abhishek Sharma failed to do well with the bat. On Saturday (October 12), the left-handed batsman failed to get going again in the ongoing third T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
After a stunning campaign in this year's IPL, the Punjab star earned his maiden India call-up and announced his arrival in international cricket by scoring a whirlwind century against Zimbabwe. He was not picked for the tour of Sri Lanka before being recalled for the ongoing series.
He opened the innings in all three games and failed to grab the opportunity. In the first T20I that took place in Gwalior, Abhishek Sharma scored 16 runs before being run out. In the second T20I in Delhi, he was out for only 15 runs.
After the twin failures, he got another opportunity to prove himself but failed to get going. The opening batsman opened his account by hitting Mahedi Hasan for a four in the very first over but could not score any more runs in the game.
In the third over, Tanzim Hasan Sakib dismissed him on the very first delivery. After Tanzim bowled a short delivery, Abhishek Sharma miscued the ball straight to the fielder at mid-wicket. And as Sharma disappointed once again, the fans were quick to take shots at him.
Here are some of the reactions to Abhishek Sharma's poor display with the bat:
Abhishek Sharma is disappointed in the international. He is struggling to get a 20 also,So far he is one match wonder only.

Apart from the one match hundred,he still needs to make a substantial contribution. There is no use of talent if it's not consistent. pic.twitter.com/c3JHgzjxPG
Abhishek Sharma in T20is without that hundred.

Ruturaj Gaikwad should now be the permanent opener for India along with Jaiswal as WT20 is in India in 2026. pic.twitter.com/K8SY1lSgTf
I am starting to believe Yuvraj’s scolding tweets on Abhishek Sharma were in fact keeping him in check

Abhishek Sharma is wasting opportunities, man. He needs to make the most of these opportunities when some first choice playing 11 members are missing & he is not doing that. Very frustrating.

Abhishek needs to realise the competition is really tough to get in Indian team. He should make every opportunity count!

Very terrible series for Abhishek Sharma. This is not the quality gameplay from a player of calibre like Abhishek Sharma. I hope Nkr may do well today.

Talking about the game, Team India are firmly in the driver's seat and are looking destined to post a huge total. They were on 119/1 in the ninth over at the time of writing this report. Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav have led India's charge with the bat.
Samson, who could not score big in the first two games, finally roared back to form with a sensational fifty in the ongoing game. He was batting on 60 off just 27 balls at the time of writing this report while Suryakumar was batting on 47 off 20 balls.
India have already sealed the series by winning the first two T20Is and will be looking to do a clean sweep. The Men in Blue won the first T20I by seven wickets before thrashing Bangladesh by 86 runs in the second game to seal the series.
