With the mega auction all but certain to occur, BCCI has announced that ten teams would partake in IPL 2022. As far as the player retention policy goes, every franchise can retain four players. However, the conditions for retaining are there should either keep three Indians and one overseas player or two Indians and two foreign cricketers.

Brad Hogg commented that he would go ahead with captain Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, amongst the players Royal Challengers Bangalore are likely to keep. Amongst the four, Devdutt Padikkal is the newest member of the franchise and has not failed to impress. The southpaw earned the emerging player of the award in IPL 2020, scoring over 450 runs.

As for the overseas contingent, the Western Australian said he would like to see for how long AB de Villiers wishes to play before making a decision. Hogg also ruled out Kyle Jamieson, who has taken rapid strides since his international debut in 2020. Jamieson, who played in his maiden season this year, did immensely well and was one of the go-to bowlers for Kohli.
