The India vs Pakistan chapter has taken a new turn, as after cricket fans and the public of India, several politicians from either the opposition or the ruling party have questioned the Indian government's conscience over the approval of the India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
The Asia Cup 2025 was under major doubt for months after the tragic terror attack on the Pahalgam valley led to a warlike situation between rival nations India and Pakistan. The official hosts of the BCCI were uncertain about the future of the continental championship, as they awaited approval from the Indian government.
However, at the Annual General Meeting of the Asia Cricket Council, it was decided, in the presence of the BCCI, that the Asia Cup 2025 would be held, with India remaining the host, and the matches would be played in the UAE. They further announced an India vs Pakistan match in the schedule, which infuriated the ICT fans.
MP Questions the Indian government's conscience over India vs Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2025
During a discussion on Operation Sindoor in the House, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the conscience of the Indian government and whether they could ask the family members of the victims to watch India's match against Pakistan.
He further brought to notice that India was stopping 80% of the water supply to the neighbouring nations, saying blood and water cannot flow together, but the government can allow for a cricket match between the two nations under these circumstances.
"Does your conscience allow you to ask the family members of the people who were killed in Baisaran to watch India's cricket match with Pakistan?..." said Owaisi.
"We are stopping 80% of Pakistan's water, saying that water and blood will not flow together. Will you play a cricket match? My conscience does not allow me to watch that match."
"Does this government have the courage to call the 25 dead people and say we have taken revenge in Operation Sindoor, now you watch the match with Pakistan. It is a matter of great regret..." The MP shamed the decision made by the Indian government.
"Who did Pahalgam? We have 7.5 lakh army and central paramilitary force. From where did these four rats enter and kill our Indian citizens? On whom will accountability be fixed?..."

The India vs Pakistan match is a deal between ACC and broadcasters
Several people did not question the Asia Cup 2025, but were confused about why India and Pakistan had to be placed in the same group after so much disagreement between the two cricket boards.
India and Pakistan have not played each other in bilaterals for over a decade; they have only faced each other in the ICC and ACC tournaments. This has led to immense TRP and is a major income source for the broadcasters.
As a result of this, they (broadcasters) urged the Asian Cricket Council to keep India and Pakistan in the same group so that they are assured of at least one match between the Asian giants. If the two make it further into Super 4 or the final, more matches might have to be played between the two.
Citing WCL as an example, many claim the cancellation of the India vs Pakistan match
Several claims have been made that, despite the match being scheduled between India and Pakistan, they might look forward to pulling out of the game. Or the Indian government might intrude at the last moment again and disallow India to play in the match, which has been a jolt to the emotions of many Indians.
These ideas have developed after Indian players themselves decided to withdraw from the game against Pakistan, as a result of which the authorities had to cancel the India vs Pakistan match in the World Championship Legends 2025. But it is to be kept in mind that neither the league nor the retired Indian players are in control of the BCCI or the Indian government.
