"Pack your bags and leave India"- Yograj Singh enters Rohit Sharma fat-shaming controversy

Former India cricketer Yograj Singh has launched a scathing attack on the Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed for her body-shaming comments on the team's cricket captain Rohit Sharma.

Yograj Singh, who is also the father of the legendary India allrounder Yuvraj Singh, felt that Shama must be ashamed of her comments about Rohit Sharma and even called for her ouster from the country.

Yograj even mentioned that such kind of unnecessary statements are given in the neighboring country for their cricket team. He further asked for some strict action to be taken against Shama for defaming the Indian cricket captain.

Yograj Singh tears apart Shama Mohamed

While speaking to the ANI, Yograj Singh hailed Rohit Sharma for achieving so much for the country and felt that Shama Mohamed should be ashamed for her statements. He stood by the side of Indian cricketers and claimed that Shama doesn't have a right to live in the country.

"Indian cricketers, people and the land are more dear to me than my own life. If someone in the political system makes such a statement about a player who has brought pride to our nation, that person should be ashamed," Yograj said.

"They have no right to stay in our nation. Cricket is our religion; we lost against New Zealand and Australia, and a lot of things were said about Rohit (Sharma) and Virat (Kohli). We stood up for them. I feel so sad," he added.

Before the Champions Trophy, India lost a home and an away series to New Zealand and Australia respectively in Tests. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli didnt perform well in both the series but Yograj always backed both of them to regain form soon.

Yograj further brought Pakistan in his argument by claiming that such statements are given in Pakistan. He cited an example of Wasim Akram's recent comment in which he questioned and made fun of Pakistan's team eating bananas on the ground.

"These things happen in Pakistan. Their former star player (Wasim Akram) said, 'Who will eat so many bananas?' Action should be taken. This should not be tolerated. If I were the prime minister, I would have said, Pack your bags and leave the country," Yograj said.

Pakistan cricket team was brutally trolled recently for their poor performance in the ongoing Champions Trophy as they failed to win a single game and didn't make it to the semi-finals. The Men in Green finished last in Group A, even below Bangladesh.

What did Shama Mohamed say about Rohit Sharma?

Earlier, Shama Mohamed made an unnecessary comment on social media in which she labelled Rohit Sharma "fat" and the "most unimpressive captain India has ever had!" She was brutally slammed by the rival party BJP and the cricket fans after this post.

Shama was slammed to such an extent that she had to delete the post later. She decided to defend her comment later by calling it a "generic tweet" but the damage had already been done and Rohit's fans kept her reminding of Rohit's success stories.

Rohit Sharma is currently in Dubai where he is leading India in the Champions Trophy. He is one of the most successful Indian captains with a terrific captaincy record across formats. He has led India to 101 wins in 140 international matches at a terrific win percentage of 72.14.
