PAK vs AFG: Watch: Rashid Khan Leads Celebration As Afghan Team Dances To Lungi Dance In Chennai

Afghanistan, on Monday (October 23), beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, and Afghan veteran Rashid Khan made sure that the celebrations after the game are as historic as the win. It was their first-ever win over Pakistan in ODIs. It is also the first time that they have won more than one match in a single edition of the World Cup.

Despite losing the toss, Afghanistan remained on top for most part of the game especially while chasing when they did not give Pakistan any chance of taking command. Batting first, Pakistan scored 282 for 7 in 50 overs. Captain Babar Azam (74) and opener Abdullah Shafique scored crucial half-centuries while Iftikhar Ahmed (40) and Shadab Khan (40) also came up with useful cameos with the bat.

For Afghanistan, young spinner Noor Ahmad, who was playing his first-ever World Cup game, starred with the ball. The left-arm spinner dismissed Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam to help his side halt Pakistan’s charge after a good start.

In reply, Afghanistan chased down the total in 49 overs and lost only two wickets. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and Ibrahim Zadran (87) laid the foundation for the chase by adding 130 runs for the first wicket. Rahmat Shah (77*) then shared fifty-plus stands with Zadran and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (48*) to take his side home.

The entire nation of Afghanistan has erupted in celebration following the historic win. Not only the fans but the players themselves are leaving no stone unturned to commemorate the huge achievement. The players’ jubilation serves as a clear indication of the profound significance the win holds for them.

The players started celebrating as soon as Shahidi hit the winning runs. The players were seen jumping and dancing in delight in the dugout. They also took a victory lap around the ground to thank the fans for their support. During the victory lap, Rashid Khan was seen dancing with former India cricketer Irfan Pathan in a heartwarming moment.

Rashid Khan and his teammates continued the celebration in the team bus too. A viral video shows the star spinner leading the celebration in the bus. He was seen dancing his heart out with his teammates as the Afghan players celebrated the historic triumph.
