To save Test cricket Pakistan cricket team director, Mohammad Hafeez has urged the ICC to set up standard match fees for every player of a Test-playing nation. Hafeez gave this statement while speaking in the post-AUS vs PAK 3rd Test match press conference, which was won by Australia by eight wickets. Australia also swept the three-match Test series by 3-0.
Mohammad Hafeez stated that the ICC is doing various things to promote T20 cricket at the world level, for the same purpose ICC shall take the step to set up standard match fees for every player of a Test-playing nation.
Mohammad Hafeez added that if ICC takes such a step, this will give financial aid to many other cricket boards who are not able to provide their players with good stable match fees, due to which they move out to play in various T20 leagues.

Mohammad Hafeez said, “One of my suggestions is for ICC like they are approving T20 NOC to promote T20 cricket all over the world. Similarly, to save Test cricket, to keep Test cricket as a priority, they should definitely think of bringing a standard match fee for all the boards. So every player, whether he is from Australia or any Test-playing nation, gets the same match fee.”
“With that, I think that many players, there are some countries which have very good facilities, a very good look is done after their players, but there are many such countries, there are many such players where perhaps their Players try to go towards cricket boards which are unable to provide them with the creative opportunities which the T20 cricket format provides, which provides more financial help in a shorter period. In general, such things should be done to save Test cricket-red ball, like T20 is being promoted, if we give standard match fees to every Test-playing nation, then it can help a lot.”
Returning to the match, the Pakistani team faced yet another cracking loss at the hands of Australia as they lost their 17th consecutive Test match in Australia. The Australian bowlers wrapped up Pakistan for 115 runs in their second innings and gave the Aussies a total of 130 runs to win in the second. The total was very easy for Aussies to chase down and they did so with eight wickets to spare.
The Australian team also moved to the top of the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table and are once again taking every step needed to defend their title.
Pakistan have a lot to think from the series as they go to New Zealand for a five-match T20I series. The Pakistani pace attack was not able to deliver barring Aamer Jamal. Big names such as Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Hasan Ali failed to showcase their skill in the series.
Shaheen Shah Afridi being the T20I captain will have the challenge to take the responsibility of performing as per his name and also help the Pakistani team make a comeback.
