The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering complaining to the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the crowd’s behavior during the India vs Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last week.

The arch-rivals locked horns against each other in the world’s largest cricket stadium on Saturday (October 14). As expected, a huge crowd turned up to witness the game. With the Indian government reportedly not granting visas to Pakistani citizens due to the ongoing political tension between the two countries, the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium had an overwhelming majority of Indian fans.

The crowd made sure to make things tough for Pakistan right from the word go. Their captain Babar Azam was booed by the fans at the toss and the behaviour became only hostile as the game progressed. Reports also suggest that a few sections of the fans targeted Mohammad Rizwan with religious chants.

PCB to lodge a complaint:

Disappointed as well as concerned over the crowd behavior, the PCB is likely to approach the ICC. According to a report by the Telegraph, PCB is not at all happy with the way their players were treated during the mega clash in Ahmedabad. A final decision on whether to approach the ICC or not will only be taken when PCB president Zaka Ashraf reaches Lahore on Monday.

Before arriving in Ahmedabad, Pakistan were in Hyderabad where they played their two warm-up games as well as their first two World Cup games. The Men in Green won both of their games in Hyderabad and also received good support from the local crowd. In fact, they were given a grand welcome by the Hyderabad fans at the airport last month when they landed in the city.

A number of Pakistan players also made sure to appreciate the fans for the gesture. Meanwhile, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur also expressed his disappointment over the lack of Pakistan fans in the stands for the ongoing World Cup.

“It didn’t seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear ‘dil dil Pakistan’ coming through the microphones too often tonight,” he said during the post-match press conference.
