Former spinner Danish Kaneria has been vocal against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), consistently making statements critical of the board. Danish Kaneria lashed out at the PCB for excluding his name from the list of top bowling performances in Australia.

The 43-year-old had a notable career, representing the Pakistan team in 61 Tests and 18 ODIs from 2000 to 2010. The leg spinner bagged a total of 261 and 15 wickets in two formats, respectively. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Test cricket.

Danish Kaneria expressed his discontent on social media by sharing a graphic illustrating Pakistan bowlers’ records in Australia. Despite the leg spinner’s impressive achievement of taking 24 wickets, his name was conspicuously absent from the bowling charts.

The graphic displayed Wasim Akram leading with 36 Test wickets, and Mohammad Asif positioned at the bottom with 13 wickets. Kaneria secured 25 wickets in five matches at a strike rate of 64, including three five-wicket hauls during his performances in Australia.

They Removed My Name From The List – Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria strongly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board, pointing out the exclusion of his name from the list of top bowling performances in Australia.  He characterized this omission as a glaring example of discrimination against him.

“Just look at the audacity of Pakistan Cricket Board. I took 24 wickets in 5 matches in Australia but they removed my name from the list. The living example of sheer discrimination against me,” Kaneria wrote.

Danish Kaneria, who had a lengthy stint representing Pakistan, faced a lifetime ban from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2012 due to his connection with spot-fixing. The spinner requested the PCB revoke his ban to earn money through the game.

He held the distinction of being the second Hindu cricketer to represent the Pakistan cricket team. He achieved the feat of securing a 5-wicket haul against every Test-playing nation, showcasing his bowling prowess on an international scale, except England.

Pakistan To Face Australia In Boxing Day Test In Melbourne On Tuesday

The Shan Masood-led team suffered a 360-run defeat in the first Test of the ongoing three-match series. The visitors were bowled out for just 89 runs in the second innings in Perth. Pakistan didn’t pick any specialist spinners in their line-up for the series opener.

Pakistan has been plagued by injuries during the red-ball series in away conditions. Pacer Khurram Shahzad, who made an impressive debut in Perth, and left-arm spinner Noman Ali have been ruled out for the remainder of the series due to their respective injuries.

The Shan Masood-led team will take on the Pat Cummins-led team in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), starting on December 26. The third and final Test is scheduled to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 3 to 7.
