Pakistan’s poor record in Australia continued as they suffered a 360-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the first Test match played in Perth. With the next match all set to be played in Melbourne, the team’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan, took out the frustration of the defeat at the fans.

Ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, Mohammad Rizwan interacted with the fans at the MCG wherein he gave a rude answer to a fan asking him a question. Rizwan was asked, “Will you play or Sarfaraz”?

Answering the fan, Mohammad Rizwan said, “You come, we will play you”. Rizwan didn’t find a place in the first Test match as Sarfaraz Ahmed played as the wicketkeeper-batsman. Sarfaraz was not able to score well in the Perth Test, and it will be interesting to see whether he will be replaced by Rizwan in the Melbourne Test.

Apart from the latest controversy, Mohammad Rizwan was in the limelight for dedicating his century against Sri Lanka to the victims of Gaza. Rizwan faced a lot of bashing from the netizens and it was believed that he should not have made such comments.

Mohammad Rizwan has played a total of 28 Test matches for the Pakistan cricket team and scored 1423 runs at an average of 39.52. His highest score has been 115* whereas he has also scored eight half-centuries. Rizwan has been in and out of the Test side whereas he is a regular member of the white-ball team.

Mohammad Rizwan was one of the top run-scorers for Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup and scored 395 runs from nine matches and his highest score was 131*.

Pakistan didn’t have a brilliant outing in the 2023 ODI World Cup and were knocked out of the tournament after the round-robin stage. The Pakistan team lost four matches in a row and their bowling attack didn’t perform well.

The major reason behind Pakistan’s dismal performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup was the poor batting display of captain Babar Azam. Babar showcased a below-average performance and only hit one half-century throughout the tournament.

Babar Azam was dismissed cheaply in almost every match and only scored 320 runs from nine matches at an average and strike rate of 40.00 and 82.90 respectively.

If we get back to the Australia vs Pakistan Test series, the Pakistani team will want to win the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne if they wish to stay alive in the series. The Pakistani team have not defeated Australia in Australia from the last 28 years and are on the verge of yet another defeat.

The Australian team, on the other hand, have been ruthless in each format in the year 2023 and will wish to continue the same in the second Test match against Pakistan. Australia, who are also the world Test champions, will also aim to add more points to their World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign.
