The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is faced with a significant financial obligation if Inzamam-ul-Haq’s contract as chief selector is terminated. Inzamam-ul-Haq, along with Captain Babar Azam, faced criticism for the team’s lackluster performances in the ICC World Cup 2023.

The Pakistan team has had a disappointing performance in the World Cup, suffering four consecutive losses. The Babar Azam-led team is on the brink of early elimination from the marquee tournament and is likely to miss the semi-finals for the third consecutive time.

The Men in Green’s underwhelming performance in the World Cup put additional pressure on Inzamam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam. Inzamam had apparently prepared for such a scenario by arranging compensation terms, which cost the PCB a substantial sum of PKR 15 million.

Inzamam-ul-Haq Signs Contract With A Six-Month Notice Period

As per Cricket Pakistan, Inzamam demanded a monthly salary of PKR 2.5 million, a four-year contract, and a six-month notice period in case of early termination. During the discussions, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the selection process was a topic of interest.

Member Kaleem A. Khan raised questions about Inzamam’s reliance on AI for selection, while Khawaja Nadeem proposed introducing such software and establishing a database. In response, Inzamam emphasized that on-field performance holds significant importance.

Inzamam’s alleged shareholding in a company belonging to Talha Rehmani, who acts as the agent for Inzamam and several other players. This situation has prompted concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, and the PCB is likely to seek clarification from him.

Will Not Be Right To Blame Babar Azam And Inzamam-ul-Haq – Mickey Arthur

Pakistan Cricket Team Director Mickey Arthur defended Babar Azam, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and the team’s efforts in the ICC World Cup 2023. He acknowledged that the team’s batting had been inconsistent, even though the bowlers performed well.

“We did not play well in this tournament, but it will not be right to blame Babar Azam, Inzamam, or anyone, I know the players and staff tried their best,” Mickey Arthur said.

“Everyone is trying but our batting is not coming into form. We improved our bowling today, but could not score runs in the batting, and could not play the last five overs properly, if we had made 300, could have defended it.”
