PAK vs CAN: 'Have a request for PCB chairman...' - 'Angry' Wasim Akram sends sensational message to Mohsin Naqvi

Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram lashed out at the Babar Azam-led side for their poor performance against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 match. He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman to take bold calls as the team lost the game from the winning position. 

Pakistan would be gutted with the way they performed against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 match. The Babar Azam-led side was on top of their game for most of the match and it looked like a cakewalk for them as India looked under pressure as well. 

Pakistan got the coin toss in their favor as they opted to bowl first. The fast bowlers made sure that they made the captain’s decision look correct as they picked wickets at regular intervals of time and bundled out the opposition for just 119 runs in just 19 overs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. 

With the bat, Pakistan were right on the money as they batted magnificently at the start and were 56/1. It looked like they would finish the game easily but that wasn’t the case as they lost wickets right after that and couldn’t recover from that. 

Jasprit Bumrah tilted the game in India’s favor as he removed well-set Mohammad Rizwan (33) and after that, nothing went Pakistan’s way. They came under pressure and managed just 113 runs, losing the game by 6 runs. 

Wasim Akram was left fuming by the Pakistan team after their performance. He lashed out at the players, saying that they were playing with the nation and should play with some pride. He also noted that the pitch was easy to bat and also thrashed Mohammad Rizwan for not taking the team home. Speaking in a video posted on his channel, he explained: 

"I have a request for the chairman of PCB, take a bold step, forget about who is angry for not getting captaincy, you are working for the country, stop these things. You are playing for the nation. Bring some pride in you. Who loses like this? How difficult was chasing 120 runs? It was not difficult at all. It was the best New York pitch that India has played so far. 

“There was a slight seam, there was a slight turn. The batters got leg before to straight balls. Rizwan batted 10-12 overs. Their main bowler Bumrah came to take the wicket. He went for sweep on the first ball. After so much hard work, after 32 runs, after playing 12-15 overs, if you get out to the main bowler by hitting him, the whole of Pakistan will be angry and frustrated with you.”

Tell Chairman PCB to give us a break. We are not able to do this - Wasim Akram on the Pakistan team 

Wasim Akram further lashed out at the Pakistan team, saying that they should tell the PCB chairman to give them a break as they are not able to play. The former Pakistan cricketer was not able to digest the defeat of his team and claimed that it would be hard for them to make it into Super 8. He explained: 

“Now you should tell Chairman PCB to give us a break. We are not able to do this. This was my post-match analysis. I am as down as you are. I am a very positive person. And I consider it a game. But to lose like this, to be out of the tournament, I don't know if we are out or not, we will have to see run rate. But I hope they come. But still, after this performance, I don't think they deserves to be in the Super 8s. Maybe you find my words bitter and bad. But this is what it is,” he concluded.
