In the wake of Pakistan's humiliating defeat against India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, their former allrounder Mohammad Hafeez has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and has accused them of being greedy and making deals with the likes of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir.

Pakistan's chance of progressing ahead of the group stage in the T20 World Cup is almost nil after their second loss in as many games in the tournament. After suffering a shock defeat against the USA in their first game of the tournament, Pakistan ended up losing against India as well.

Bowling first, Pakistan did well to bowl out India for a modest total of 119 runs. However, they failed to chase down the total and lost the game by 6 runs. At one stage, Pakistan were on 80 for 3 after 14 overs and the win looked like a mere formality. However, the Men in Green capitulated in a spectacular fashion and finished their innings on 113 for 7.

Mohammad Hafeez slams PCB:

Mohammad Hafeez vented his frustration at the PCB after Pakistan's dismal loss against India. Speaking on a local television channel, the former Pakistan allrounder began by calling PCB greedy and accused them of making a deal with Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir.

Both Amir and Imad had retired from international cricket but were given the chance to play in the T20 World Cup. Speaking further, Hafeez also highlighted how decisions like these are affecting the morale of Pakistan's players in the domestic circuit.

"They brought them here out of greed, made deals with such players who have ruined Pakistan's cricket. I was in the domestic circuit, but no one wants to play domestic cricket. It's because they were telling me, 'Hafeez bhai, if any of us gets selected, we will take it. How can it be that players who don't even play Pakistan's domestic cricket got selected?'

"When asked six months ago to play for Pakistan, they said they wanted to play in leagues. Now that there are no leagues happening these days, they are playing in the World Cup. They are playing in the World Cup as if it is just another league," said Mohammad Hafeez.

Meanwhile, Pakistan now need nothing less than a miracle to advance to the Super 8s stage after losing their first two games. Even if they win both of their games, they will need a number of results to go their way to advance to the next round.
