Nothing can stop Babar Azam. In the second T20I match against England in Karachi on Thursday, the Pakistani skipper showed off his form by scoring a superb 110 runs without being dismissed. Babar Azam also set a record-breaking 10-wicket victory for Pakistan, making him the most successful skipper in the game’s shortest format.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the previous captain of Pakistan who won the Champions Trophy, had the most victories with 29, but Babar Azam now has 30 victories in T20I cricket. In the shortest format, Babar has won 30 games out of 49 matches, while Sarfaraz has won 29 games out of 37 games between 2016 and 2019.
Babar Azam Close To Matching Rohit Sharma’s Record
Additionally, Babar Azam matched Virat Kohli’s record of 30 victories in T20I captaincy. After the T20 World Cup the previous year, Kohli resigned from the position. He concluded with 30 victories in 50 games. With 41 triumphs in 72 games, MS Dhoni is still India’s most successful T20I captain, and Rohit Sharma is in second place with 31 victories in 40 games.
Pakistan’s T20I captain since 2019, Babar has proven to be a strong executive. The great hitter has continued to score runs without being hindered by the responsibility of captaincy. At the T20 World Cup last year, Pakistan advanced to the semifinals when Babar served as captain and defeated India for the first time in a World Cup match.
MOST WINS AS PAKISTAN CAPTAIN
Babar Azam – 30 wins in 49 matches
Sarfaraz Ahmed – 29 wins in 37 matches
Shahid Afridi – 19 wins in 43 matches
Mohammad Hafeez – 18 wins in 29 matches
Shoaib Malik – 13 wins in 20 matches
By being the first Pakistani batter to achieve more than one T20I hundred, Babar also established a new milestone. The right-handed hitter scored 122 runs against South Africa in Centurion in 2021, and then crushed England by 110 runs without being out on Thursday.
Pakistan quickly reached a 200-run mark without losing a wicket thanks to a 203-run opening partnership between Babar and Rizwan.
On Friday, September 22, Pakistan and England will play the third T20I in Karachi, and Babar will have the chance to match Rohit Sharma’s total as well.
