Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet again seemingly frustrated the national players with their irresponsibility, as the players are yet to know about their salaries to take part in the Champions One-Day Cup, which kicked off on September 12.

According to Cricket Pakistan, Pakistan's national cricketers still remain in the dark regarding how much they are going to be paid by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the Champions One-Day Cup in Faisalabad.

PCB still silent on salaries for Champions One-Day Cup

This tournament is going to be a big hit as almost every international star will be seen in action, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has still not come clear on the match fees for its international stars.

It is being said that the PCB has not yet confirmed how much they will pay to some of the biggest names, including the names of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan, which will grace the Champions One-Day Cup in Faisalabad.

The centrally contracted national players would reportedly receive half of what they were supposed to gain from international matches. Pakistani players were used to earn 644,620 rupees per one-day match, so they shall have to settle for 322,310 rupees per match in the domestic tournament.

Notably, Pakistan’s international stars and domestic players will reportedly be given the same salary for the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, according to Cricket Pakistan. However, there is no clarity regarding the match fees so far, which has created restlessness among the players.

The domestic players receive a meager 60,000 rupees per match during the Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament, with non-playing squad members getting a paltry 20,000 rupees. As no new agreement has been finalized with the players, they will be paid the same salaries as domestic cricketers for the Champions Cup.

Mentors getting more salaries than players

However, the real issue is the pay disparity between the players and their mentors for the One Day Cup. Shockingly, the five cricketing legends—Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq—have been given a whopping 5 million rupees per month.

These five legendary mentors are getting the hefty fee despite not being temporary mentors for the tournament, and signing a three-year contract with the PCB. After the Champions Cup, the mentors will continue to guide players at the academies and oversee talent scouting camps in Pakistan.

In comparison, Pakistani stars like Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan had to be content with just 4.5 million rupees every month under their previous central contracts. This has brought a huge salary difference, raising many eyebrows.

While the mentors' contracts guarantee lucrative monthly payments, the cricketers are left to wonder why their compensation has been kept less. However, the tournament has already been undergoing, and it seems that they have come to any conclusion regarding their salaries.
