Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf shared thoughts on the competition between himself and Mohammad Amir for a spot in the playing XI of the national cricket team. Haris Rauf acknowledged Mohammad Amir's bowling skills, stating that he provides opportunities to learn valuable experience.

Mohammad Amir recently came out of retirement to make himself available for selection for the T20 World Cup 2024. The pacer made his comeback in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand. He took three wickets in four matches at an average of 28.67 and an economy rate of 8.32.

Haris Rauf has been sidelined after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 in February. The tearaway pacer is currently undergoing rehabilitation for the injury. However, Rauf has been included in the squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.

During a media interaction in Lahore, Haris Rauf praised Mohammad Amir and mentioned that he learns a lot from the experienced left-arm pacer. Rauf emphasized the team's benefit from healthy competition among bowlers, without any feelings of jealousy.

“Amir bhai is our senior bowler. I get to learn a lot from him. The team benefits when there is competition for spots between bowlers. There is no jealousy. You try to perform better than one another so that the team benefits,” Rauf said.

Always Difficult To Return From An Injury - Haris Rauf

Harid Rauf, who is recovering from a PSL season 9 injury, stated that he's trying to regain form. The right-arm pacer noted they played great cricket and reached the final of the last T20 World Cup. Rauf stated that they will try to rectify past mistakes to secure the title this year.

“It is always difficult to return from an injury, I’m trying to get back in rhythm,” Rauf further said.

“We played great cricket in the last World Cup, we reached the final. We are now trying not to repeat those mistakes. We will do our best to bring happiness to our people,” he concluded.

The Men in Green suffered a five-wicket loss against England in the final of the last edition of the World Cup. Pakistan failed to defend a total of 137 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Harid Rauf picked up eight wickets in seven games at an average of 22.25 and an economy rate of 6.85.

The squad will be reduced from 18 to 15 players for the World Cup after the first T20I against England on May 22, meeting the May 24 deadline. Pakistan's series against Ireland kicks off on May 10 in Dublin, with the final match scheduled for May 14.
