Grant Bradburn, who was Pakistan’s head coach during the Asia Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, has parted ways with the PCB after he was removed as Pakistan’s head coach. Following his removal, he was sent back to the NCA in Lahore. Former New Zealand cricketer has joined an English county team according to reports and has parted ways with the Pakistan cricket board.

Grant Bradburn was removed from his position as the head coach of the Pakistan national men’s cricket team after the Men in Green displayed a flop show at the ODI World Cup 2023. He was appointed as the Head coach on May 13, 2023, and was expected to deliver in the World Cup and the Asia Cup. However, Pakistan had an early exit in both the tournaments which somewhat forced the PCB to take some harsh decisions which involved the sacking of Grant Bradburn.

An off-spinner who played seven Tests and 11 ODIs for New Zealand in the 1990s and 2000s, Grant Bradburn has worked in three different roles for the Pakistan cricket team. He has worked with the PCB for five years and now he will be leaving the team after an impressive stint with the PCB. The Pakistan team may have not enjoyed a lot of success with Grant Bradburn but he has been a loyal servant to the PCB for five years.

Grant Bradburn took to the social media platform ‘X’ to thank everyone for their support in his stint with the PCB. He also wrote “Bohat Bohat Shukriya” which means ‘Thank you very very much’ in Hindi. Bradburn is expected to join Glamorgan as their head coach in all formats according to a report from ‘The Telegraph’.

Grant Bradburn worked in various roles with Pakistan which included high-performance coach, head coach, and fielding coach. He was their head coach during last year’s ODI World Cup and has also been head coach of Scotland, including when they pulled off a famous win over England in Edinburgh in 2018. Pakistan currently has Mohammad Hafeez in the head coach role and he will be taking the team to the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.

Pakistan recently lost the three-match Test series against Australia being whitewashed by the Aussies on their turf. The Pakistan cricket team has not won a Test match on Australian soil since 1995 and they failed to win again. Australia completely dominated the Pakistan team in the Test series winning all three matches at Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney.

The Men in Green will now face New Zealand in a five-match T20I series. Shaheen Shah Afridi has been announced as the captain of the Pakistan team in the T20I format after Babar Azam stepped down from the position after a disappointing World Cup performance. Pakistan will be looking to win the T20I series against New Zealand to show some progress. It will be the start of the road to ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
