The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to part ways with its foreign coaches, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick. The Pakistan board terminated the contracts following the national team’s disappointing performances during their tenure.

Mickey Arthur served as the team director for the team during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Approximately two months after their removal from their positions, Arthur and his foreign support staff have mutually decided to part ways with the country’s cricket board.

Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in November. Bowling coach Morne Morkel resigned post-World Cup, and Andrew Puttick recently joined the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

Pakistan Cricket Board Decides To Part Ways With Foreign Coaches

PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer are set to negotiate a final settlement with the trio of coaches. However, the board was unaware that the contracts of the coaches lacked a clause allowing them to be permanently assigned to the NCA.

“After some consultations since Mickey is already with Derbyshire and Puttick and Bradburn have found new assignments it was decided to end the matter amicably and release them from their contracts,” the official said, as quoted by PTI.

As per the official, the board is ready to offer compensation for several months’ salaries to three individuals, including batting coach Puttick, who informed the PCB about his new assignment with Afghanistan before accepting the contract. Additionally, Bradburn has expressed interest in becoming the head coach for the English county team, Glamorgan.

Arthur, Puttick, and Bradburn assumed their roles under the leadership of former management committee chairman Najam Sethi in April-May of the previous year. This trio was part of the Pakistan team management during the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as the director of the national team before the Test series against Australia. Adam Hollioake was appointed as the batting coach, while Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal joined as the fast-bowling and spin-bowling coaches, respectively.

Following the appointment of a new team of directors and coaches, the Shan Masood-led side suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Australia in the recently concluded three-match Test series. Pakistan faltered in seizing crucial moments, failing to secure a win in Australia.
