Pakistan National Cricket Team has jumped four places to become the no.1 ODI Team in the ICC rankings, surpassing Australia, India, New Zealand, and England. This is the first time that they have reached no.1 in ODIs in the ICC-recognized rankings since January 2005

Having won their most recent ODI against New Zealand, Babar Azam, and Co. are currently 4-0 up in the ongoing 5-match series.

Before the start of the series, Pakistan were fifth in the rankings with a rating of 106, while Australia, India, and New Zealand were all tied at 113 (with fractional differences). After winning four consecutive matches, they have gained 7 rating points, reaching 113 and to the top of the rankings

The exact rating points are as follows. Pakistan (113.483) is followed by Australia (113.286), and India (112.638). England and New Zealand round off the top five with 111 and 107 ratings respectively.

To keep their top ranking, the Asian powerhouse will have to clean-sweep New Zealand and win the fifth ODI as well.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam becomes the quickest player to score 5000 runs in ODI cricket

Babar Azam has now become the quickest player to score 5000 runs in ODI cricket, surpassing the greats of the game.

Pakistan won the fourth ODI in the 5-match ODI series against New Zealand by 102 runs on May 5. For his 107-off-117, Babar was named the Player of the Match.

While scoring that century, Babar Azam crossed the 5000-run milestone in ODI cricket in just his 96th innings. Thus, he broke Hashim Amla’s record of reaching that milestone in 101 innings.

The top five in that list is a who’s who of cricketing greats. With Amla at no.2, West Indies legend Viv Richards is at no.3 with 114 innings. Tied with him is Indian maestro Virat Kohli. Australia’s David Warner rounds off the top five.
