PAK vs SL: "Despite Injury, He Showed Commitment" - Fans Hails Maheesh Theekshana As He Comes To Bowl Amid Injury

Fans on X hailed Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana for his commitment in the ongoing virtual semi-final of Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The mystery spinner came to bowl despite being injured. 

Maheesh Theekshana played a great role for Sri Lanka in the must-win game in Colombo. The spinner bowled staggering well in the game and put his body on the line for the team despite knowing that ICC World Cup 2023 is around the corner. 

Maheesh Theekshana got himself injured during the 34th over when he tried to stop the boundary. He put in a dive but failed to stop the ball and in the process got his leg injured. He went off the field but showed great grit and immediately was back on the field. Although he was hobbling while walking, he bowled his full over. 

After bowling the over he again went off the field as physios were seen stretching out his legs. Maheesh Theekshana got extra strapping on his leg and then again entered the field to complete his overs. He bowled exceptionally well in the game as he troubled the Pakistan batters. 

Although he didn’t get many wickets, he was quite economical. However, on the delivery he got out Mohammad Nawaz was exceptional. Maheesh Theekshana returned with the figures of 1/42 in his quota of 9 overs. 

Coming to the match, after being curtailed to 42 overs, Pakistan tumbled in the start as they lost wickets quickly and were tottering at 130/5. However, after that Mohammad Rizwan (86*) and Iftikhar Ahmed (47) played vital hands and powered their side to a total of 252 runs. For Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers as he picked three wickets.
