The fans turned up in big numbers to support Pakistan during their World Cup opener against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Babar Azam & Co. have received good support from the fans right from the time they landed in the city for the marquee event.
Hundreds of fans were cheering the Pakistan team when it landed in the airport last month. Pakistan stars have also made sure to return the favor by constantly appreciating the support of the fans. The likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan took to social media to appreciate the support at the airport after their arrival in India.
A viral video from the match between Pakistan and the Netherlands shows just how much love the Pakistan team is getting in India. Towards the end of the game, the whole stadium was chanting Babar Azam’s name and the Pakistan skipper made sure to respond. He pleased the fans by putting a hand around his ear to acknowledge the support.

“The way Hyderabad supports us, we are very happy. Our team is enjoying the hospitality. Pretty satisfied, credit to the bowlers, the way started well and the way we took wickets in the middle overs. We lost three wickets, the way Rizwan and Saud batted put pressure on the Netherlands. Saud built his innings and played well. He has improved a lot. Our bowlers bowled very well, we stuck to our plans, Haris bowled quick and took wickets,” Babar Azam said after the game.
Babar Azam-led Pakistan beat Netherlands:
Talking about the game, Pakistan recovered from a poor start to beat the Netherlands by 81 runs and start their World Cup campaign with a win. Asked to bat first, the Men in Green were reeling at 38 for 3 with Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, and Babar Azam back in the hut.
However, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored 68 runs each and shared a crucial 120-run stand to bail Pakistan out of trouble. The 1992 World Cup winners went on to post a competitive total of 286 runs before bowling out the Netherlands for 281.
