Pakistan National Cricket Team star opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has said that winning and losing is part and parcel of the game and they need to move on from the hammering they faced at the hands of India National Cricket Team in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.
The Men In Blue crushed the Babar Azam-led side in the Super Four match by 228 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Batting first, India posted a mammoth total of 356/2, thanks to centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul and half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Defending the target, pacers bagged the first three wickets, and the rest of the job was done by wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, which resulted in Pakistan getting bundled out for 128.
Imam-ul-Haq, in a chat with the official broadcasters Star Sports ahead of the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Super Four game, said:
“We haven’t lost any match since three months. Unfortunately, that was the game (vs India), we need to get rid of that from our blood. That’s part of the game.”
We knew we are a good team, we have to execute and we have worked hard – Imam-ul-Haq
Imam-ul-Haq said that they played the Lanka Premier League (LPL) and the Test series in Sri Lanka and are well aware of the conditions. Imam-ul-Haq elaborated:
“We have some quality players and we talked about it. You have to step in and this is the day we are looking forward to. We played LPL here Test matches as well. We knew that the conditions will be like this. It’s not a batting paradise. It’s a tough challenge. As a batsman, you have to adapt. you have to craft your innings and look for the bad balls. Running between the wickets is the key as well.”
