Pakistan’s Director of cricket and head coach Mohammad Hafeez issued a warning to Australia ahead of the three-match Test series between the teams. He said that they will give their everything in the series and they are in Australia to win and not just compete.

A new chapter in Pakistan cricket will begin with the Test series against Australia. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the three-match series, starting 14th December in Perth. Shan Masood will be captaining the team whereas it will altogether be a different coaching staff for Pakistan and they would be hoping to set new standards.

Beating Australia in Australia isn’t easy, especially for Pakistan, who have had torrid outings down under. The Shan Masood-led side have been whitewashed in each of their five previous Test series but this time around they are well prepared and would be hoping for different results.

Mohammad Hafeez believes that Pakistan’s Test team is settled and everyone in the group is excited for the challenge. He admitted that performing in Australia would be a great thing for the team. Speaking to reporters, Mohammad Hafeez explained:

“This Test team is very settled. They have done a great job for Pakistan cricket in this format. Everyone is excited to take on this challenge. That’s the most encouraging thing. And performing in Australia would be great for them. As a Pakistan team, we’re here to beat Australia, not just to compete.”

Pakistan had a great outing in the tour game against Australia’s PM 11. Their batters in particular got some much deserved game time and would be hoping to carry the same form in the Test series.

AUS vs PAK: Preparation-wise, we ticked most of the boxes – Mohammad Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez further talked about the preparations ahead of the first game. He stated that they have ticked all the boxes and the players want to beat Australia this time. Mohammad Hafeez added:

“As I said, as a team we believe we have great talent within the team and believe we can in Australia. Preparation-wise, we ticked most of the boxes. The players are really hungry to perform in Australia. They wanted to take that excitement coming with the challenge and win here. So that’s the most important thing. I am using only the words of the team, I received a message from the team, they want to beat Australia here this time.”

The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Perth from 14th December. The focus will then shift towards the second match, to be played from 27th December in Melbourne. The final match will happen in Sydney from 3rd January.
