Pakistan reportedly secured major wins over India during an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) election. The election was for three ACC director spots. As per media reports, the candidates backed by Pakistan won.

Though the victories were not easy for them, the candidates backed by India also fought well in the election. After the well-fought contest, it was Pakistan that had the last laugh.

Pakistan has more strength within ACC after the election

The election was chaired by ACC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) head Mohsin Naqvi. On the other end, it was Rajeev Shukla representing India. As reported by the website Minutes Mirror, the panel supported by Pakistan emerged victorious in all three seats.

Because of the wins in all three seats, the panel supported by Pakistan has strengthened its grip over ACC's administrative decisions and other official work. The result gains more attention, as it was held ahead of next year’s Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh. Women's cricket in Asia is also likely to be included in this election result.

Upcoming Men's Asia Cup will be at the center of the discussion, with Pakistan having the upper hand

The next Men's Asia Cup will be hosted by Bangladesh, with Sylhet, Mirpur and Chattogram among the possible venues of the tournament. The full schedule and fixtures for the tournament are yet to be disclosed.

The next Asia Cup is expected to be more exciting as there will be Asian Giants like India and Pakistan. Fans will also expect to see some quality cricket in the Asia Cup as it will be the highlight of the event. Recently, Bangladesh caught everyone by surprise when they defeated the Australian cricket team by 9 wickets in a Test match in Darwin.

So the team has the potential to pull out stunning results against some of the biggest names in world cricket. The media report further mentioned that the election in Bangkok was also a key moment for Asian cricket's financial and administrative matters. In the meeting held in Bangkok, the budget was approved, while preparations for the Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai were reviewed.

Like the International Cricket Council (ICC), the ACC is also in the process of spreading the game across Asia. Through these formats, cricket has gained significant growth in nations. To keep the growth and the possibilities in the future, the officials reportedly decided to expand its commercial and competitive wings.

Election to influence cricket across Asia

Not only the Asia Cup, but there are also other bilateral series, which have gained significant attention recently. The official cricket tournaments in Asia are coordinated by the Asian Cricket Council.

As Pakistan now has more strength in the council, it will be able to make more crucial decisions in the near future. The election result has placed Pakistan at the centre of the stage for developments of both men's and women's cricket tournaments in Asian countries. It will be interesting to see what the council's first few decisions will be after the election.
