There will be no match between the India Champions and the Pakistan Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) due to public sentiments. After the high-profile clash between India Champions and Pakistan was cancelled, a team owner dropped a bombshell.
The much-anticipated game between the archrivals was scheduled to take place on July 20 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, but outrage among the fans forced the organizers to cancel the match. Indian players pulled out of the WCL 2025 clash after fans demanded a boycott of the Pakistan clash, especially in the wake of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam.

Reacting swiftly to anger among the fans on social media, the World Championship of Legends organizers decided to cancel the match between the India Champions and the Pakistan Champions. The decision sparked questions about the future games in the event.

However, Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan confirmed that the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025 will go on as planned and the schedule remains unchanged. Khan said that everything will continue as per the original plan, but not for India-Pakistan.
Khan hinted at a major change if the knockout stages throw up another India vs Pakistan scenario, saying if such a clash comes up in the semi-finals of the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025, it will be “avoided” to prevent further controversy.
Pakistan Champions owner rules out India clash in WCL 2025 semifinals, final face-off uncertain
Kamil Khan was quoted as saying by GeoNews: “All the remaining matches are taking place. The tournament is going on as per schedule, and there are no changes. As for the semifinals and final, we’re currently saying that if we make it to the semifinals, there will be four teams, and we will avoid matches between the two teams.”
However, the Pakistan Champions owner refused to give more clarity on being asked about what would happen if the two teams qualified for the WCL 2025 Final. Khan further said, “If we reach the final, then the decisions regarding that will be made then.”
As the WCL 2025 clash was cancelled due to India, Kamil Khan said that the Pakistan Champions will be awarded two points, saying they deserve the points. The owner added, “And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules.”

Fans to miss historic rivalry as Indian legends step back
Earlier, the India vs Pakistan match was cancelled after several top Indian cricketers backed out. Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan all withdrew from the WCL 2025 game, showing their protest in the wake of public outrage following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Shikhar Dhawan even shared that he had informed the organizers about his decision much earlier, on May 11. Later, the World Championship of Legends organizers said that they had only planned the India-Pakistan clash after hearing that the Pakistan hockey team would be visiting India, assuming it would be acceptable.
The World Championship of Legends 2025 began last week, kicking off with the match between the Pakistan Champions and the England Champions. This is the second season of the tournament. India Champions had won the first edition, defeating Pakistan in the final. But this season, fans won’t be able to watch this titan clash.
