Rashid Latif slammed the PCB for constantly making changes in the management and spoke about Babar Azam's side departure from the ICC T20 WC 2024.

The Men in Green, who were playing their 3rd T2O World Cup under Babar Azam's leadership, had a pre-mature exit from the T20 World Cup. The 20-team event in USA & West Indies, which kicked off earlier this month, was a very good stage for Babar and co. to prove their worth.

From one of the Greatest to one of the Worst: Story of Babar Azam's life as captain

Expectations around the team were extremely high after what they had done in the previous two T20 World Cups. During the 2021 edition in UAE, Babar Azam led Pakistan to the semi-finals wherein they lost to eventual champions Australia. In 2022 at the Land Down Under, the Men in Green reached to the final of the coveted T20 tournament.

In what was their 3rd appearance at a T20 WC final in 2022, Pakistan lost to Jos Buttler's England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite ending as runners-up, Babar Azam was hailed as one of the greatest captains ever. However, all of the praise around Babar started to diminish from 2023 onwards.

Under his captaincy, Pakistan first failed to have a top 4 finish in the ODI World Cup last year before Babar Azam relinquished captaincy himself. A few months later, he was re-appointed for the role but his second stint as captain has been very uneventful. The Green Army suffered losses against New Zealand's C team, Ireland, and a series loss to England.

Then in the T20 World Cup 2024, for the first time in the tournament's history, Pakistan suffered a group-stage exit. Babar Azam and Co. suffered losses to the USA and India which proved to be enough for their premature departure. Following the team's exit, former wicket-keeper batsman Rashid Latif blamed the PCB for all the things that transpired.

What did Rashid Latif say?

While speaking in his latest YouTube video, Rashid Latif took a brutal dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), blaming them for the team's downfall. Latif questioned the constant changes made in the board's hierarchy, especially with the Chairman's role. He claimed that this thing hurt the team's performance on the ground.

With Chairman changes, Pakistan's coaching staff also get axed now and then but it's something that should not happen. Rashid Latif believes that the dressing room should remain stable regardless of what the board does. Latif also admitted that Babar Azam's side had the worst preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup among all the Test-playing nations.

"The manner in which the dressing room feels and behaves, that is always the deciding factor. When there is a change in the higher authority/management, the coaching staff changes as well. It shouldn't be like that, the dressing room should remain stable." - Latif said.

"All the cricket boards, especially the Test-playing nations have prepared well for the T20 World Cup, except Pakistan. Education plays an important part that who is your chairman, who is talking to." - Rashid Latif concluded.
