Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad was awarded a memorial cap and plaque by Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain.

Javed Miandad was Pakistan cricket’s heart and soul from 1975 to 1996, with 16,213 international runs in 357 matches with 31 hundred. Miandad made 28,663 runs at an average of over 53 in 402 first-class games from 1973-74 to 1993-94, comprising 80 hundred and 139 half-centuries.

“I am pleased and humbled to be honored into the PCB Hall of Fame.” It is fair that all these inductions take place while an international player is in charge of Pakistan cricket matters since he knows better than anybody else the amount of hard work and sacrifices a cricketer must make to reach the top.

“I wanted to contribute to my team and country through my performance every time I stepped onto the field of play.” To do this, I devised my training and preparation strategies, employing novel approaches for visualizing the opponents and conditions I would face. I’m pleased that my efforts yielded positive results, and that I was able to provide my team and country with performances that elevated us.”

Faisal Hasnain congratulates Javed Miandad on his induction into the Hall Of Fame:

“I’d like to welcome Javed Miandad on being inducted into the Pakistan Cricket Board Hall of Fame on courtesy of the Pakistan Cricket Board,” This little gesture is a thank you for his outstanding contributions to Pakistan cricket and for bringing untold joy to cricket fans around the world.

“Nothing seemed impossible when Javed Miandad was at-bat.” Miandad’s never-say-die attitude has made an indelible mark on his fans and opponents, who respect, appreciate, and applaud him for the dignity, pride, and constant performance with which he built his career.”

Miandad, who was 18 at the time of the 1975 World Cup, went on to play in five more World Cups, winning the 1992 event in Australia under Imran Khan. Miandad scored 1,083 runs at an average of over 43 in 33 World Cup games.

In the first Test against New Zealand in Lahore in 1976, Miandad struck a century (163) and then the first of his six double-centuries (206) in the third Test in Karachi. Miandad struck 145 in his 100th Test at Lahore in 1989, becoming only the second batter (after Gordon Greenidge) to record hundreds in both his debut and 100th Test.
