The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has landed in yet another controversy, as the former red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie has once again made sensational revelations from his stint. Gillespie accused PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi of showing zero interest in a crucial team-building session.
The former head coach revealed that both he and Pakistan’s white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten, had put serious effort into attending and contributing to an important team-bonding exercise called the "Connection Camp," but the PCB chief didn’t show any interest.

The Aussie said that the session was designed to build trust and unity among the players and coaching staff. Gillespie further claimed that despite the significance of the camp and the dedication shown by both head coaches, Naqvi was absent both physically and in terms of engagement.
Taking a sharp swipe at Mohsin Naqvi, Gillespie said that he flew in from Australia and Gary Kirsten from South Africa for the "Connection Camp," but the PCB chairman joined only via Zoom despite being in Lahore. Former red-ball head coach noted that the PCB chairman’s lack of involvement sent a disappointing message to the national team and support staff.
Jason Gillespie said on a podcast, “Gary came up with this great idea of a connection camp. Everyone in Pakistan cricket basically shared their experiences in that meeting. I flew in from Australia, Gary flew in from South Africa, and Chairman Mohsin Naqvi dialed in on Zoom.”
It was a bit unusual: Jason Gillespie
He said that it was odd for him that Naqvi couldn’t make a 20-minute drive while others traveled across continents to attend the ‘Connection Camp.’ Gillespie signed off by saying, “He is based in Lahore, but he did not come, while Gary came in from Africa. We both felt that the chairman could not even drive 20 minutes to come here—that was a bit unusual.”
Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board had organized a special camp on September 23, 2024, with the aim of improving communication, teamwork, and overall performance within the national team.
Top players like Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, and Shan Masood took part in the session.

Pakistan Cricket Board plans Tri-Series with Afghanistan and UAE amid uncertainty over Asia Cup 2025
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has started looking at backup plans as uncertainty grows over the Asia Cup 2025. India is scheduled to host the ACC event in September, but it now faces uncertainty after a terror attack in Kashmir and rising political tensions between India and Pakistan.
Since India is hosting the event, Pakistan were already set to play on neutral grounds under a hybrid model agreed upon by the ACC. But with no word from the BCCI so far, the PCB is now in talks with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to organize a tri-series with the UAE as hosts. This plan will move forward only if the Asia Cup 2025 gets officially cancelled.
