The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly preparing to take swift action against the former PCB chairman and former Pakistan Ramiz Raja for his controversial comment after the team’s 2-1 Test series win against England at home.

Following Pakistan's historic Test series 2-1 victory against England in Rawalpindi, Ramiz Raja stirred controversy with a sharp and sarcastic question directed at Pakistan's red-ball captain, Shan Masood.

Controversy erupts as PCB considers action against Ramiz Raja over insensitive remark on Shan Masood's captaincy

During the post-match interview, Raja asked about Masood’s past leadership record, referring to Pakistan’s previous six-match losing streak in Test cricket, which raised many eyebrows.

Ramiz Raja asked, “How did you achieve six losses in a row?” This remark was seen by many, including the PCB, as an insensitive jab. Despite this unexpected attack by the former PCB chairman, Shan Masood remained professional and responded with grace.

Masood kept his composure, emphasizing the importance of the Pakistan cricket team’s win, not just for himself but for the entire country. Replying to the unexpected question, Shan Masood said: “Ramiz bhai, we needed this win, the nation needed this win, and I’m really happy that Pakistan won.”

PCB to drop Ramiz Raja from commentary panel for Australia series

This exchange has reportedly caught the attention of PCB officials, who are now considering omitting Ramiz Raja from the commentary panel for Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball series against Australia, set for November. The PCB’s response to this incident could set an example for handling such interactions in the future, especially in high-profile international series.

Meanwhile, in the thrilling Test series decider in Karachi, Pakistani spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan delivered a powerful performance, dismantling England’s batting lineup within just three days and securing a memorable nine-wicket victory to clinch the home series 2-1.

This win showcased the invaluable impact of Pakistan's seasoned spinners on a turning pitch. The spin duo Noman Ali and Sajid Khan took center stage by claiming 19 out of England's 20 wickets. Their combined efforts saw England bowled out for a paltry 112 runs in their second innings, which was England’s lowest Test score in Pakistan since 1987.

It’s special: Shan Masood on Pakistan's Test series win over England

Chasing a modest target of 37 runs, Shan Masood led the charge with a resolute batting display, sealing the victory with a powerful six. This triumph was a strong response to the challenges Pakistan faced throughout the three-match Test series, giving fans and players to celebrate after a long time.

On the Test series win, Masood told reporters: Like London buses, they come together. The first win came after a long time, and it was backed up by a series win. It’s special. For me, the biggest thing is progress.

The Pakistan team needs stability at the moment. But when we think that changes are necessary to put the team on a winning track, we will do so. Noman and Sajid were outstanding like they were in the second Test. To be here and standing as the winning team, it’s the most special thing for us.”
