Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday (15th December) officially signed the agreement for the hosting rights of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The bond signing between the two governing bodies took place in Dubai.
PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf went to ICC headquarters in Dubai and was joined by ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall. The Pakistan Board has already asked the Pakistan government to provide foolproof security to visiting international teams for the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in a recent meeting with Zaka Ashraf had assured that security agencies will be cooperating well and will make every effort in making the Champions Trophy a successful event in Pakistan in 2025.
There were recent reports in the media that suggested that Champions Trophy 2025 might be shifted from Pakistan and will be played in UAE. This was because BCCI again isn’t keen to send the Indian team to Pakistan like Asia Cup 2023 and the tournament might be played in a Hybrid model.
With PCB now signing the agreement with ICC for the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025, it remains to be seen what will be the future step of the Indian team after that. It will be interesting to see if BCCI allows the team to travel to Pakistan for the event or not.

Teams to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be the 9th edition of the tournament. The event was discontinued by the ICC after 2017, when Pakistan won by beating India in the final in England. The governing body recently added the event back. It will be the first time the Champions Trophy will be played after 8 long years.
The qualification for the Champions Trophy 2025 was solely dependent on the teams’ position in the ICC World Cup 2023. The top 8 teams in the tournament qualified for the event. Here are the teams that qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025:
  1. India
  2. South Africa
  3. Australia
  4. New Zealand
  5. Pakistan
  6. Afghanistan
  7. England
  8. Bangladesh
