A shocking controversy shocked the cricket world as a former Pakistan captain has been linked to a scandal involving suspended agent Mughiz Ahmed Sheikh. However, the name of the former Pakistani captain has not been revealed in the Cricket Pakistan report, but it is being said that he holds a significant position in the national cricket setup.

The ex-captain allegedly played a crucial role in convincing several young cricketers to sign contracts with Mughiz Ahmed Sheikh’s agency, the International Cricketers Association (ICA). It is being said that the former Pakistan cricket captain has close ties with the company.

Shocking scandal hits Pakistan cricket as former captain linked to corrupt agent

The scandal came to the fore when Sheikh was found guilty of multiple breaches of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) anti-corruption code, and he was banned for his misconduct. An investigation revealed that Sheikh, who also had registration as a player agent with the ECB, had tried to bribe a British coach to secure spots for his favorite players on the team.

The English coach immediately reported the incident to the ECB, and then a thorough inquiry was conducted. Following the investigation and an independent anti-corruption tribunal hearing, Sheikh was found guilty of four violations of the ECB’s anti-corruption code.

However, the tribunal is yet to announce the duration of his ban, but the ECB has already suspended his registration as an agent. Following the controversy, several well-known Pakistani players have distanced themselves from ICA, including young talents like Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Huraira, Irfan Niazi, Mohammad Ali, and Usama Mir.

Pakistan players now join Game Sports Management

Even former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz have cut ties with the controversial agency led by Sheikh after his suspension by the ECB. They have now reportedly joined Game Sports Management for a fresh start away from the tainted organization.

However, PCB has remained silent on the issue so far, but if the ECB imposes a ban on Sheikh, ICC member boards, including Pakistan, will have to honor and implement the decision.

Notably, 20 players of the 25 centrally contracted players were affiliated with ICA: Aamer Jamal, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Abdullah Shafique, Arafat Minhas, Haseebullah, Jahandad Khan, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Hurraira, Irfan Niazi, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Shadab Khan, Sufiyan Maqeem, and Tayyab Tahir.

Other players like Imam ul Haq, Mohammad Haris, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Usama Mir, and Abdul Samad are also linked to the same agency.

Usman Khan ruled out of the second ODI against New Zealand

Meanwhile, the Men in Green have suffered a big setback as their opener, Usman Khan, has been ruled out of the second ODI game against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton because of a hamstring injury.

The PCB said on its official website, “Usman Khan has been ruled out of the second ODI against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old opening batter sustained the injury while fielding during his side’s first ODI against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier on Friday."

"The MRI scan confirmed a low-grade tear, making Usman unavailable for the second ODI scheduled on 2 April at Seddon Park in Hamilton.”
