Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan made provocative gestures during their Asia Cup 2025 match against India in Dubai. Now, this trend is followed by the players across the fields.

During their Super Four clash, Haris Rauf made a “6-0” gesture, referring to Pakistan’s unverified claim of shutting down six Rafale aircraft during India’s Operation Sindoor—a response from Indian armed forces to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.

The Pakistani pacer also showed how their armed forces destroyed the Indian fighter jets through his hand near the boundary line after the Indian fans mocked the bowler with “Kohli…Kohli” chants, reminding him of Virat Kohli’s hammering in the 2022 T20 World Cup at the MCG.

Not just that, Sahibzada Farhan went a step ahead, mimicking a gun firing shot with his bat after reaching fifty against India in the Asia Cup 2025 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After which, Sahibzada was reprimanded by the ICC, while Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees.

Following the Asia Cup 2025 controversy, Pakistan women’s national cricket team players repeated those gestures. And even India’s under-17 football team copied a “Rafale” and “tea-sipping” gesture against India in the SAFF U17 Championship in Colombo.

Pakistan U-19 Women’s “Rafael Down” celebration sparks fresh controversy

This trend is continued by the Pakistani athletes across the field. Meanwhile, a fresh video is making rounds on social media. Actually, Pakistan’s U-19 women stunned fans by breaking into a controversial “Rafael down” celebration after clinching the tournament.

The girls in purple uniforms set the internet ablaze. A group of players was sitting with the trophy, while from the other side, two young players walked forward holding their bats like guns, moving in a military-style manner.

Both of them made a gesture as if they were firing a shot, and immediately, all the players sitting with the trophy fell to the ground, pretending to be hit. This gesture quickly went viral across social media platforms. Now, fans have been questioning the meaning and implications of the act of the under-19 players and what message they want to send.

Shan Masood faces South Africa in the home series

Meanwhile, the Pakistan national cricket team is currently facing South Africa in the first Test of the ongoing two-match Test series at home. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first but faced an early setback when Abdullah Shafique was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.

However, Imam-ul-Haq and captain Shan Masood steadied the innings with a solid century stand for the second wicket. Their partnership helped Pakistan take control of the game in what marks the opening Test of the new World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle for both teams. Currently, their score reads 200/5 against the Proteas side at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
