India stamped their authority in the Asia Cup 2025 group stage clash against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium as they comfortably won the game by seven wickets with 25 balls to spare on Sunday, September 14. After the match, Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out a clear gap in class, experience, and exposure between the India and Pakistan teams.
Ashwin emphasized that India is in a league of its own, with players like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma thriving under high-pressure conditions, thanks to their experience in the IPL. On the other hand, Pakistan lacks exposure to global leagues and high-stakes matches.
Ravichandran Ashwin points out India’s tactical supremacy as Pakistan falters in the Asia Cup 2025
The former Indian all-rounder has noted that only Saim Ayub stood out with his temperament and key wickets against India. Ayub took all three wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Tilak Varma during his team’s crushing defeat against India in the Asia Cup 2025 clash.
Ashwin had jokingly suggested that the “Asia Cup organizers” schedule at least three games between India and Sri Lanka to provide great entertainment to the fans next time, as there is no class in the current Pakistan team. Taking a sly dig, Ashwin said that he really felt sorry for the Men in Green.
Furthermore, Ashwin highlighted India’s tactical and technical superiority. He mocked the Pakistan team by saying that their batters struggled to execute even basic strategies. The former Indian off-spinner noted that Pakistani batters failed to handle Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, and that’s why they never got momentum in their innings.
It is just unfair to even compare both teams: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, Ash Ki Baat, “I feel that India and Sri Lanka would be a much tighter contest. I actually feel very, very sorry for the Pakistan cricket team. They don’t have the exposure to play in all the cricket leagues in the world.
They’re not able to ply their trade in most of the leagues. For Pakistan, I felt that only Saim Ayub has a great temperament. He also bowled a great spell. But besides Saim Ayub, I don’t think this Pakistan team has a lot of class.”
Ashwin also noted that the current Indian T20I squad is one of the strongest India has ever fielded. He also stressed that it would be really unfair to make comparisons, as there is no match between India and Pakistan. The former all-rounder added, “I would say this is the strongest T20 team that India has ever put on a park. It is just unfair to even compare both teams.”
Pakistan falters under pressure as Ravichandran Ashwin slams poor adaptation
He also noted that Abhishek Sharma showed excellent technique by using his feet effectively against Shaheen Afridi, while Mohammad Haris struggled against Jasprit Bumrah, offering an easy catch. Ashwin felt Pakistan’s batting lacked the ability to build strong partnerships or handle quality bowling.
Pakistan’s batters repeatedly got bogged down under pressure, failing to capitalize on starts and unable to adapt to high-quality bowling, resulting in a disappointing and ineffective innings.
He signed off by saying, “Pakistan has been practically very, very poor. I told you, in the chakkar of giving it your all, you don’t want them getting bogged down. They got bogged down again.”
